Default A debate on psychology... (points to consider before u opt the subject)

some points worthwhile to consider, while opting this subject.

1) this objects is scoring for many years, don't u think that psychology can show a result like indo pak history and other less scoring subject next year? as there are ups and downs in scoring trend.

2) it has been come in notice (quoted by many CSP's) that Fpsc as in 2011 result, many candidates who have even failed or passed with low marks in all subjects, but in psychology, theie score is above 70%.

3) due to above these two points i think psychology is more vulnerable next year.

so your kind view, consideration, opinion, will be beneficial to 2013 aspirants.
thanx.

i felt exactly the same, but if you have grip and command over the subject , than you don't need to be afraid of!

that already happened to Geography in 2012. paper 1 was unexpected as not a single question came from the important 13 topics recommended by many CSP's.and paper 2 was way more general and tricky too.
so one should prepare these subjects thoroughly for next year!

Your points are valid.
But i had discussed my optional subjects with a teacher there at academy, and though he told me to reconsider my other two optionals, he was ok with Psychology.
I think, once the trend is set, it goes on like that for few years.
So,abhe psychology safe zone meyn he hai. nahe?

No doubt psychology is one of THE most scoring subjects , and the idea that it can only suit medical students...is wrong! Since it has every thing which we study in Everyday science , i mean keeping the biological section in mind... Doctors can be good at it but that does not mean that the rest of us cant get a grip over it, as psychology itself is very interesting.. and easily understandable, every topic teaches you something new... all my friends who are CSPs now, had Psychology as an optional subject.

@ imbindas

yes, its good to have grip on ur subject, but sometimes when the formula of scoring trend is applied, then while u will have the grip, one will see his numbers with the average 80/200, 90/200 and a maximum of 120/200. so it doesn't mean and it is not possible that no one had read the subject to an extent to get 80% marks.

thats why i am asking of seniors, to shed light on this topic.
and tell us, from their previous experience, is psychology really exposed to danger, than compared to other subjects?

Adnan, I was also thinking the same. I think every year FPSC change the paper pattern of one subject as well as its marking trends. even I'm thinking to opt this subject but my instincts say it going be next victim of FPSC.....

Adnan Zia, I was wondering whether you chose to opt for Psychology in the end? I find myself in a similar dilemma being stuck between Psychology and Business+Journalism. Leaning towards Psychology as everyone's been recommending it but I'm still unsure. .
