@ MAHIKAN,

Asalam-o-Alikum

Brother, Accounting And Auditing is very scoring subject, But you have to evaluate your weak and strong points in accounting. According to me it is a good choice. I was also puzzled before opting it, But finally now sticking with it. It is very easy and Minimum you can easily marks 150+, not like other papers, where you have to pen down extra ordinary paper to get just 140+.

So, Wish you good luck.

@ Mahi
I did B.Com from University of Karachi in 2005 and scored 80plus marks in all the accounts subjects...I have also opted Accounting and my experiences say that u need practice as much as u can...if u did ur B.Com having good accounts scores thus don't u worry I hope that u will be able to score good in CSS too.
Moreover Refer to the following four books
1. Principles of Accounting (M.A Ghani)
2. Business Accounting (Frank Wood)
3. Advanced Accounting (Syed Iftikhar Ali & M. Arshad Miriwala)
4. Cost Accounting (Syed Iftikhar Ali & M. Arshad Miriwala)

Good Luck

It is a good decision Mahi

Dear Mahi accounting is very interesting and good scoring subject. I have also chosen accounting as my optional subject for CSS. i have kept this question on this forum few months before, seniors suggested me to practice fully this subject because it needs nothing but more and more practice. So keep on doing practice.

Don't forget to study suhail afzal book of accounting
and matz and usry for cost accounting these are recommended for css

Accounting?????

Hi everybody

If we really go deep into the Accounting papers for the last 10 attempts, only 5 to 6 topics in paper-1 are repeating everytime and the level of difficulty is not above B-com level in most of the questions. MCQs are also not difficult and are quite predictable.

As far as Paper-2 is concerned its a bit tricky one as a number of specialized subjects have been taken together. But the level of difficulty again is not so high. I believe with a little effort one can score upto 180 in these papers.

Books well, go for any book on Financial Accounting whether of foreign or of Pakistani writer. Just go deep into the basics and these basics are very easy things to understand.

On the basis of my academic and professional knowledge I would suggest

Frankwoood,s Business Accounting 1&2
Matz & Usray Cost Accounting
Little use of Internet for Income tax and Finance etc
This would be sufficient for these two papers.
