Hi All,

The simple answer is there is not any book in market for
the preparation of Arabic CSS which could cover syllabus.
You only have to rely on notes.
Ahmad Hasan Zyat's book is there in market.
But that is history of Arabic Literature .
And that helps a very little .
Even some people do not consult that book at all
and rely completely on notes.
So the simple answer is .
NO.

Thanks a lot.Stc waly notes mery pas hain bs mujhy un ki authentic hony k bary me doubt h k kahin mistakes na hon un me.

If these notes are those compiled by Sir Hafiz Arshad, then there is no doubt in their authenticity because most of the candidates use these notes for preparation. There are both complementary English & Urdu versions of the notes. Both these versions should be combined along with Ahmad Hassan Ziat's book for preparation leading to 150+ score.

Yes you are absolutely right that their authenticity is doubtful.
Not only they are replete with errors but also the material given
is not up to the mark and is very short .
But we have to rely on them only.
As all of us use those notes , therefore all are at equal position
in paper. If paper comes on the traditional pattern then people score high.
In 2009 paper was on traditional pattern. And aspirants scored very high.
Almost similar situation was seen in 2010 too.
But in 2011 the situation was not all the same and paper was fairly tough.
In Arabic tough means that paper was out of notes.
As we don't have much know how of Arabic and Arabic Literature and its History, we are unable to do unseen questions nicely.
Therefore if paper comes on traditional pattern, then those notes can serve the purpose.

Brother no doubt most of the students , rather almost all
follow those notes, but they are not authentic at all.
Neither they are sufficient.
I appeared in CSS 2010 and few of my friends also had Arabic.
i was the good scorer among them with 137.
None of them crossed 120 either.
But they scored well in other subjects.
These notes do not guarantee 150 at all , whether they
are prepared to their fullest.
Ahmad Hasan Zyat's book does contain some material.
But difference is created by objective and short questions.
And Hafiz sahb;s notes cant be sufficient for them.
I dont remember fully it was paper I or II , its objective proved very
hard to aspirants of 2011 because that was away from notes of Hafiz Sahb.
In short , though we have only available notes of Hafiz sahb,
they are neither sufficient , nor authentic.
And one is always at risk.

Rest has been discussed .

@Tassawur

Brother, there are some typo errors in the notes, but it doesn't mean these are not authentic. The notes have been prepared by taking help from different sources and the information contained in the notes is most of the times authentic. If these had been unauthentic, there would have not been high scores in Arabic as you know almost all aspirants prepare arabic from these notes.

yes, I agree with you that these notes are not sufficient. The candidates relying on the notes may score high if paper is of traditional nature. But if paper comes out of pattern, they may suffer as I suffered in CSS 2008 scoring only 115. CSS 2008 was one of the toughest years for arabic and the highest score I found was 126. I changed my strategy for CSS 2010 and didn't rely on notes only but also complemented these notes with their urdu counterparts, the book by Ahmad Hassan Ziat and Internet. e.g. I used Internet for information about modern arabic critics/writers like Taufiqul Hakim, Taha Hussain etc. I scored 153 in CSS 2010 by using these resources.

For short questions, one needs to know a bit arabic grammar so that he/she may understand the question asked in arabic and solve the essay question which is also required to be attempted in arabic.

If one has studied Ahmad Hassan Ziat's book, he/she will face no difficulty in solving the out of trend paper. CSS 2011 paper subjective section may be solved easily if one has gone through this book. Also the book helps in objective portion as well.

For objective, one can never be sure what they are gonna ask. However, most of the times mcqs repeat from previous years paper for which solution has been provided by Hafiz Arshad sb. I have observed that every year 25+ objectives are from past arabic papers barring the year 2008.

The bottomline is that the notes may be trusted but should be accompanied by other resources (book, internet etc) for good score. Portion to be attempted in Arabic needs a bit knowldge of arabic grammar.
