Economics as a optional subject for any person who had never studied it before is disasterous but its good for those who have studied it as their major subject because it is a subject with a vast scope and requires a thorough and profound study before.

Economics is a good choice. There are various senior members who got good score in economics.I think you should opt it without any fear of low scoring. With a little effort and hardwork you will make it scoring.

Opt economics as an optional subject. If you have any prior knowledge of economics then you can extract more than 120 marks in it. Even on getting good knowledge of it you can score 160. It all depends on how much you give time to economics.
Best of Luck.

For paper A i would suggest to read any ordinary bachelor level book. For example, Hamid shahid's book or M. Saeed Nasir's book. But for Pakistan economy paper, you should read the business page of either Dawn or Express tribune. You should also read M. Saeed Nasir's book on Pakistan Economy for the historical perspective of several sectors of our economy, he problems we encounter, the several plans we had in the past, the up and down of the growth rates of GDP, etc. I scored 140 marks in Economics Paper.

Can economics be opted by someone who has no prior formal education in it?It‘s often said that economics in css is for those who have degree level education in this subject as it has got much complex mathematical concepts at higher level which require some strong rudimentary prior knowledge attained through study of it at some degree level. It seems an interesting subject to me.
