Please go through from the book "Principles of Economics" by N.Gregory Mankiw.

Samuelson is a good book but its language is dry. K.K.Devit is not a book for beginners and furthermore, it has many things which should be skipped for a beginner in this subject. K.K.Devit is like an entire encyclopedia and one must read this very good book after grasping the basics.
