Why on the earth you are thinking so pessimistically. It's your field, go with it.

First of all. Choose your subjects carefully it is the most important decision. Here subject is economics and your degree is in agri-economics. Core subject is same but off course there will be many differences as well. Before selecting go through syllabus of economics and if you think you can easily prepare and manage it on your own that chose is. As you have previously indicated that you cannot go to academy so, economics is not a good choice for you in my opinion as it has many concepts that can not be easily learnt at home (Judging by my experience as I have studied almost 3 subjects of economics in graduation & masters and their concepts were not so easy like mathematical portion, graphs, derivative kind of things). Still after going through entire syllabus if you feel confident than go for it. Otherwise you can always have option to attempt international relations or political science.
It is not necessary to choose subject of your back ground. Subject selection has many other factors like your interest, preparation method (self or coaching) and scoring trend in past exams as well. Repeat this procedure with all the subjects you have selected.

About books I cannot guide you because It is not my optional but I can help you search 2,3 most relevant books for your subjects. Off course you are not required to read all the books. You are required to purchase only 1,2 books of each subject in hard form which may or may not be in list of suggested books. If further knowledge in required there are many links available for soft copy of books you can download them. You can go through content section and can read relevant topic from that particular book.
Well about notes let me tell you a fact. Syllabus was changed in 2016. Before that ample notes were available on this forum and preparing really good notes takes times and also not many take economics as their optional subjects. Also if some how notes of any subjects are available they are not good enough as they have out dated knowledge in case of many subjects like current affairs. Also notes are prepared according to ease, need and understanding of a particular person. It can be useful if you have short time to prepare and you have no other option but to use them but if time is not an issue, using someone else's notes is a kind of CSS suicide. Buy only 1,2 books and search rest from net and prepare your own notes (concise ones since only short notes can be revised before exam). If everyone follows same notes of academies examiner will give low scores after seeing same stuff again and again.

This is main section for economics in which you can see many posts about economics. Go through 10-20 posts after 2015 (when syllabus was changed) and make list of books recommended by those who have attempted it in previous exams. Choose the one recommended by seniors (especially CSP's) and the ones most recommended. This is how you choose books.
Also syllabus of the subject was not entirely changed and almost half of the topics of all subjects are same and going through very old threads is hectic so to search your relevant topic, book or notes what you need to do.
Open google. Type name of topic and write cssforum along with query. If it is on forum you will get most relevant results.
You can also search books this way as links of many books have been shared on this forum as well. just write name and author of book and css forum and than search.
You need to do some effort on your own at first (almost for a week) to decide subjects, books, downloading books notes etc. Do it in an organized manner it will benefit you later.
If you need help in subject selection you can always ask but remember choose wisely.
