Well, the books are quite enough for the preparation of Paper I only. And if you're also consulting some of the books of A Levels, that's more than enough. The Paper II needs a thorough knowledge of Current economic issues at national and international level. And for this paper Do consult the book I mentioned in the post on page one of the same thread. Further keep an argus eye on news papers and TV channels. Economics II half prepares your Current Affairs paper.

Regards,

@syasirm

Well Sir thanks for such a detailed list. I'm not disagreeing to you, but I myself have attempted CSS 2006 with Economics as one of my optionals. I'm masters in Economics and Finance and had a read of most of the books mentioned in your list during my studies at masters. It's good to have a read of more and more books, but according to my analysis, the topics of the syllabus (Paper I)can easily be covered by K.K. Dewette and Samuelson. And I learnt from my experience that CSS is all game of mind. So my honest opinion here within this thread will be that instead of making a list of books, one ought to list the topics, and then prepare them in accordance with the requirements of CSS exam.

Regards,

Yeah I know you are Masters in Economics and you might have studied the books i have mentioned . I dont know why most of you guys emphasise alot on K.K.dewitt. Althought it covers the sylabuss the materail given in the text book is not sufficient enough for a competitive exams.
Yeah Economics by Sameuloson is a good book but ECONOMICS by Mankiw is far better the reason is that its language is easliy comprehended by readers.
If you talk of General books then ECONOMICS by LIPSEY and Economics by Stonier & Hague are far better choices.
I recently wrote my own book entitled "research methodology"

@Qurratulain and @Syasirm
Thanks to both of you for your opinion. I also think that the books I'm reading for paper 1 are enough but for paper 2 , the books which are mentioned above, I have to look for them. As I'm not living in Pakistan, but I think I can ind some in the Pakistani Library here, as it is a small library but I'll try, or else I can take help from the net. Besides, this forum is quiet helpful.

Sir, don't you think that LIPSEY can go above one's head particularly for those candidates who've studied Economics just at graduation level and are aspiring for CSS with Economics as an optional? Yes, Stonier & Hague is a better choice, but still Samuelson is much comprehensive. Isn't it?

For Paper II, you can also have read of The Economists' Online Edition, Dawn's EBR (It's also available on the website of dawn), and of course CSS Forum's board. Just be active, place your queries and share your knowledge.

@Gulshan

Have a review of the whole thread, you'll get a fair better idea about the selection of books and syllabus management.
