Default Economics - Low Scoring, Low Scoring, Low Scoring !

Salaam,

I have been discouraged by almost everyone whom I met (CSP officers), regarding opting for economics as an optional subject. According to them its very low scoring, even if someone is really interested in the subject he gets around 110 or 120 max !

So I would like to know if any of our fellow members did opt for the subject and what did they score, obviously they have to advise us as well

btw I have seen that only "Emoemar" and "Arfeen Zubair" opted for economics and they scored around 100 something. So really looking forward to some feedback from them.

"Its low scoring, don't go for it, opt for some other subject instead !"

This is what almost everyone tells me when they find out that economics is my optional in CSS.

So here I would like to ask me fellow members (especially the ones who have already passed), if you were given the chance, would you drop economics and opt for something else ?

I am really really confused.

p.s. I am planning to appear in the 2010 Exams and have some background knowledge about the subject (Micro and Macro).

It is very simple. Go through the DMCs of the candidates available in 2008, 2007 and other related threads.

Step#1: Note down the highest marks in this subject obtained by the candidates and note down the lowest marks in this subject. Do rely on the bucket one step down than the highest score because highest score comes in the exception category. Exception category both in the highest as well as in the lowest category are always discarded for the sake of rational decision making.

Step#2: Note down the best score obtained by the candidates in the subjects other than Economics in the similar way which you have adopted in the step number one.

Step#3: Compare the highest score in both the economics and the non-eco subjects. Discard the exceptional scores. Rely on the one step down than the exceptionally high score.

Step#4: a) If economics wins the race of highest score then your problem is solved and opt for it.

b) If non-eco subjects win this race by bringing higher score: Count down your strengths, and analyze whether you can opt these non-eco subjects based on your interest and your expertise. If you can't be good at these non-eco subjects then forget about these subjects and simply focus on the subject which is of your interest (Economics). But if you are equally good at both the economics and non-eco subjects then drop the option of economics and select that non-eco subject because that may bring you high score.

Based on my personal observation, economics is not so bad in fetching good score. I have seen some score sheets of the candidates in 2007 and in 2008 these were really good in economics.
At least this subject is not lower in scoring rank as compared to the most favorite and opted subjects of history by the majority in the CSS aspirants.

Regards
