Dear brother,

Kinly enlighten us with your experience for sitting the exam for economics.
I too have an economics major currently in my BSc degree and I would like to enquire more about the scope of the subject in regard to scoring and excelling with good marks.

Other than that, my interest and likes for the subject is immense. So if you'd be kind enough to lay some light :)

Thank you..

I have another query, that is in regard to the selection of optional subjects.
I wanted to know what you think my choice of subjects is like, and if you would please share your views.

Other senior's views and comments will be welcomed and much appreciated.

My choice of subjects goes like

Economics
Political Science
Indo-Pak History

2nd choice would be: Economics, Political Science, International Relations and another 100 marker which I haven't yet decided upon. I'm not familiar with any of the languages which I could have opted for otherwise. :) Guidance needed.

Though I would appreciate if Positivity struck my first option from all you friends and brothers and seniors :)

Hello friends
I have done Msc Economics from GCU Lahore and have a good grip on this subject...but still not opting for it due to its low scoring potential...Few of my bright fellows in the class opted it and the result was 95 and 103 out of 200.
Still,it doesn,t mean that I am discouraging u....one among u asked about its scoring potential...It hardly gives 110.Let me remind u,css allocations r all about score, and u must consider it :):)

Thank you for being kind enough to lay light into this matter. Kindly tell me what other options do I have. I thought so because Im a BSc Economics student from LSE and I hoped I would manage it very well. Even the syllabus and the past papers didn't seem to be much of a problem. Proofs for theories with the assistance of diagrams and neat presentation should do the trick no?

If you're still not in favour of it, then kindly give me your views over the Subject break up as follows:

Political Science
Indo-Pak History
International Relations
Public Administration

P.S: I don't seem to be having background to any of these though. With the exception of Indo-Pak upto O'levels, which I believe is next to none.

I have known candidates who speak good of the subject. I know a few people, even my cousins who are serving who scored relatively high rather, by that I mean upto the 140-160 mark.

I believe it's all about how much effort one puts into the task. No subject in that regard could then be classified as scoring/non-scoring. But I do value the experience of my seniors, which lead me to the enquiry, which is to prove, rather the most crucial decision, with utmost importance in my life :) I don't want to take any chances...

Could u please enlighten me, by telling years in which they appeared...My teacher used to check CSS papers of Economics for last few years,he strongly opposed it,as a scoring subject...and one thing more exceptions r always there,we should talk about majority. isn,t it?

Yes, I will confirm the years so that there is no chance for a mistake. As far as I can recall its not been more than 4-6 years. Maybe you're right. My foremost priority was to deal with the 2nd part of the paper that deals with our national economy and policy dealing questions.

Is there a same issue with Political Science too? Have you sat the exam yourself? What optionals have you opted for sir?

hello ravian and toru.

optng economics depends on ur grip over it...dont know how scoring it is? but it was indeed a guud experience...Every senior will guide and suggest u the way he see thngs....self asses urself and if u think u have an aptitude of an economist so go for it...selecting subjects on their scoring trend can be tricky...u never know it might give u a bad score and trends changes from ur time so asses the subject and prep it ...keep it simple..

@ toru paper 2 is more a policy paper where u can digin in impress and show ur potential...

By th way CSS2012 papers were very general ... trends are changing and manuvering of the answer th way he wants is very imp now..

There u go two ppl havng diff views for subject...take a deep breath inn and asses urself unbiasly...dont be over confident butu dont be under as well...

Best Of Luck
