Default Confusion in syllabus!!

Asalaam o alekum everyone!
I have opted for English literature for css 2013. Although, i don't have any background knowledge regarding 'Literature' itself; i have always been very fond of reading it as a pastime. I'm familiar with a lot of plays and works by many authors and poets mentioned in the syllabus.

However, the prescribed outline for paper-I mentions a comprehensive study of the literary age from 1798 to 1900 only. So, does this mean that we won't have to study the history from the beginning! or after 1900's?

And if that IS the case then, is it even possible for one to study an advanced timeline without any knowledge of what happened in the previous ones..??!!!
Please seniors, I desperately need an advice.
Thank you.
Regards
Mustafain Ali.

Default @ mustafain

yes dear the questions in paper I will be set from the given period of time. The examiner won't ask questions of period before 1798 or after 1900. However, it is advisable that you may read literature and history of previous years for your own sake; for your own benefit because if you pass written, interviewers may ask about the literature or the famous poets or writers of previous years.
