It is my humble opinion that the syllabus for English Literature is just as elaborate as for any other optional subject; therefore if one feels that they have a necessary command over English then perhaps with practice and study it can be opted for.

Aatii, let me know if you want to study English Literature jointly.

Your other optionals??

With best preparation and allocating a lot for it, you would score 110-120 in toto. While you can get much more by preparing another scoring subject.
Obviously, you would pass it, but CSS is not the matter of passing, rather it is getting higher marks than others. Better to opt it not. Rest is yours!

Default be clear before you advise

I really get amazed at the misconceptions of css aspirants regarding marking trend in css, Attempting of paper and getting good score in a paper is not a puerile task. The numbers in a paper are dependent upon ones understanding of the subject and the methodology of presentation. if one has got background and understanding of English literature so not only one can get good marks but one can also save time which is the most precious thing. i,ve certain of my friends who had opted for English literature and have also scored very well. i myself have opted English literature for the upcoming exam and i am fully satiated.
