Prof Zahid Aziz and IR queries
Sir Zahid Aziz teaches in World Times Academy only. The academy is based in Lahore. So candidates living in Lahore can have the opportunity to learn from him. Currently, the academy is running both morning and evening batches. Zahid Aziz delivers his lectures towards both batches. Time schedule definitely depends on his availability. The candidates may better learn it from admin office the academy.
I have observed is that you dont really need a teacher for mastering the concepts of this subject.
This is totally wrong assumption. Don't confuse students please. I have said somewhere that understanding realism, idealism or anything else, though demands painstaking journey but still real challenge does not lie here. Instead, the real challenge while preparing IR is that 'how you relate these theories and their speculations with the contemporary challenges'. For example, the course syllabus of IR includes the topic of 'WAR'. One may understand different aspects related to the theory and practice of 'War'. But in examination, you will not be required to just 'Write a not on War; its causes and impacts'. Rather examiner is expected to ask 'Why general wars have become obsolete'// or 'Why the option of limited war is always kept open'// 'Why insurgencies and guerilla wars have become more frequent' These are just examples. There are other complicated questions too regarding this single topic 'war'. So my point is making a solo flight in IR without getting guidance from a prominent IR scholars is nothing but an extreme folly. Moreover, whether one would believer me or not, the fact is that current syllabus can only be handled well by a professor-level person. It's not the task of even M. Phil qualified IR students. |
