How to prepare notes?
 

Please someone help me in making notes for IR by mentioning proper procedure to be followed. Also mention the required sources.

The general method adopted for making notes is, at least that's what I do:

1. Decide which books you need to study.
2. Once you have decided, mark important things using a high-lighter while you study them.
3. Write down the high-lighted material in the form of bullets or points.
4. Revise them whenever you take the exam.
5. Emphasis should be on references and the sequence of events.
6. Keep in mind that this is the basic skeleton on which you have to base your discussion or answers.

PS. You can merge points of the same topic from different resources.

For a person new to IR, is it enough to study the mentioned topics of the syllabus from different books and make notes or is it necessary to study complete books for understanding?

Hello buddy,I would like to mention one thing for you that don't take Ir as forsaken subject.Its been too vast one.My suggestion,which even worked best for me,is to divide it into distinctive portions.Some of aportionments are as follow.

1.conceptualize all the theories and perspectives of IR.
2.Study some notes related to History of USA(it will clear the concept of federalsim,modern democracy and how world economy works.
Note:especially helpful for those who have no background of International laws and MNC's.Globalization,capitalism,socialism,bolshavism and terms like Counter narration,R2p,counter insurgency and first strike nuclear capability and Obama's pivot to Asia,Bush doctrine and All strategies from roll back or McCarthysim to deterrence. The compelled schemes has fixed the bolts of mine and;hence,we're shooting many birds with single fire.
2.Those who didn't opt USA history can take another path,and that is bit vigorous and time consuming:Depending on the available time;first of all conceptualize the terms like nation states,strong vs weak federation,democracy,imperialsim,neofacism,dictatorship and other forms of government.Than move to international protocols and conventions and how UN genreal assembly works
3.Move on the division of chronological events:WW-1,than world war-ll, cold war era
Collapse of soviet union through NATO and its Sister allies like CETO &CENTO +AZNUS.
4.Post cold war era,Concept of fused economy and integrated regionalism like SAARC,ASEAN &EU.
5.war on terror and globalization of war.
6.Last but not least,pay special attention on Developing south,it will enhance your critical thinking and notch you some harsh realities.I.e.you can comfortably wind up your passage according to your terms with facts and figure.
6.Lastly it wouldn't be a bad idea to draw some maps and generalized the region with hot dog situation and importance. For example I have generalized the region of SAARC as
a.Most populated region b.Failed organization c.complex ethno sectarian complex model d.Hegemony of India a cofactor countered by Pakistan e.Most dangerous region. In terms of nuclear offense(proximity or more appropriately convergence of four nuclear vectors.I.e. India,Pakistan ,Russia and china) f.Cpec and game changer or enigma of x factor And lastly Centcom and Asia pacific regionalism.
P.s. Now come to your question: is single book enough as those ascribed by Fpsc? My answer is absolutely NO,since,its the dilemma of Fpsc's copy and pasting.MY GOOOD SUGGESTION IS TRY TO REAX ARTICLES AND NEWSPAPERS along with books. if somebody has disagreement than find me amongst those who are ready for correction. Lastly kept this thing in your mind that there is quite expected that! questions related to ir will be asked in General Science and ability,because some books of If such as Joshua s.Goldstein is recommended in GSA as well.

Developing south and developed north is a key term in ir, where world poverty and status of any country is proportioned to their contribution in international affairs.i.e.core or central states are enjoying power and economic hegemony at global sphere.These countries are mostly located in North of globe.These regions include Europe,North America,Australia {3 continent}+japan.Ironically Russia and China is not included in developed north,though they are contended to have been.Pakistan is located in developing South.Some other regions are Whole Africa, MENA, Balkans, Caucacsus, Far east Asia, Asean, Latin America, South America and carribean states like Dominican Republics, Cuba and Haiti. Bretton woods self sponsored programs of long term economica reforms, combined with indigenous problems of corruption and mismanagement of resources have exacerbated the crisis in the respective regions. Take the case of pakistan[imf extended loan facility started in 80’s , but with each passing day inflation is heightened]Former colonial states are political subservient of developed south,hence concluded.Hope this time it works.:vic
