Whoever your teacher would be, just keep one thing in mind that for IR only resort to international authors , there is no other way to go in this subject.

Can someone with science background clear IR? and specially without a proper academy or reputed Teacher?

You should take VU lectures for IR if you have a hard time finding a teacher or want to complement the understanding gained through teacher. IR is neither difficult nor an utterly easy subject. The more times you read, the better will be your understanding, at-least thats my experience.

IR is big deal for someone off non social science background...opinions and historical context go hand by hand...and it is less scoring than science subjects...remember this isnt ordinary exam where you have to just pass the exam, it is a competition where thousands are competing for 200 to 300 seats and marks will come in to play at a certain time.

With a science background yes , and if you join a good academy or hire some reputed teacher it will be worth it.
