The thing i want to share is that atleast 2 questions in paper 1 seemed to be taken entirely from the first of those books. As in the arguments asked were those which are repeated again and again in Baylis' book.
So maybe sometimes its not really about scoring trend so much as examiner chosing a particular book with its set of arguments and awarding marks to those who answer accordingly
Thats just a guess. I dont know what you folks or anyone else wrote in their papers. To me attempting paper A seemed very easy and i got a distinct impression that that psper was set from the book i read. Now its quite possible that you folks felt the same about your resource material resonating with exam questions.
Please send me latest edition of these books pdf etc my contact details is in profile

Scores are factors for less marks in International Relations. First, International Relations is a subject based and analysed on both Western style of thinking as well as a Pakistani narrative. So, it would be very encouraging for all of us who opt for Pakistani narrative as I have read the questions of IR papers. Second, to the point and well thought paper is to be regarded well not just craming .Third,without giving references of theories and historical events related to IR makes no appeal to examiner. Fourth, critical analysis must be furnished in each question of IR. Calculating your marks based on aforementioned factors would help you out.

If you are attempting a question on Non Proliferation Treaty then quoting American nuclear attacks in WW2 and their aftershocks on Japanese in particular and on human civilization in general would appeal to examiner. In more recent evidence, you may also portray a scenario of nuclear wars between US and North Korea and between India and Pakistan. Along with that , Increasing belligerent behaviour by some states like Saudi Arabia and Iran for achieving nuclear capability and then initiating a war on the basis of sectarian lines may be quoted as an example to justify the need of NPT. I hope, it is enough for you for evaluation of NPT.

Yes! references means you put an argument and then refer it to historical events or theoretical paradigm.

For example, according to Kautilya, there must be one power (unipolar World) for achieving ultimate peace in the world.
At the end of the answer you can put it in following fashion;
References:
1- Arthshastra, Kautilya
I hope, now you may fully understand the reference part.
