I chose US history as one of my optional and it greatly helped me in my preparation of IR. I went through all the important events that have been in the previous papers of CSS and made around 13 questions. I think in IR examiner is more interested in knowing about your own opinion regarding the events. Once you go through all the events then you can easily deduce and give your point of view. And i would say getting high marks is a matter of sheer luck because i was not expecting these marks where as in current affairs i was expecting 60+ i hardly got 19. But one should prepare every subject well and leave the rest on GOD.

I made comprehensive notes of the past paper questions and wrote everything in my own wording.

yeah my friends were saying that don't take this subject because its low scoring for the past 3 years. This year, this subject is indeed become high scoring.

yes. Everybody had opined same. Psychology proved very disastrous this year. I am thinking of replacing my subjects for next attempt. I am not gonna take css this year.

Thats good. :)
And I obtained 47, i was expecting marks above 50.
Though i had prepared topics, not a single of them worked. So i just attempted
papers generally and presented my own opinion on all topics. and just put some facts and figures which were in my mind.
N
Anyway, not discouraged with my score. :) hoping for the better result in I.R in next attempt.
