Am i suppose to memorize the articles of various constitutions?

Can anyone guide me regarding this one....Am i suppose to memorize the articles of various constitutions or just understanding their state systems/ setup is necessary? I think there is no way they wud ask me to replicate the articles or sections.

No, you don't need to memorize all the articles of various constitutions. However, you MUST cover (not necessarily memorize the exact words) important articles like fundamental rights([I]e.g. article 19 in Indian Constitution, articles 8-28 in pk[/I]), separation of powers in US constitution ([I]Article 1, Section 1,2 n 3[/I]), principles of policy ([I]articles 36-50 in Indian C, articles 29-40 in pk C[/I]), the President ([I]article 41 in pk[/I]) ... and so on.

Secondly, you should have a crystal clear picture of their state systems/setups etc. And finally, you should be able to draw a comparison/contrast of all the constitutions like... powers of US President vs Paki President n PM vs Indian President n PM vs UK PM vs French President, powers of US Congress vs Pk Senate vs Rahiya Sabha... etc etc etc.

p.s don't take the Indian n French Constitutions lightly if you want to stand out in the competition.

One more Question though. Cud u suggest a gud book for islamiat considering the disastrous paper of last yr? which one wud have all the nitty-gritty stuff?

Dear aphrodite, I prepared Islamiat in Urdu from a book by Dogar publishers which proved useless. However, i decided to attempt this paper in English on the exam day and had to improvise a lot. Luckily, I had prepared some 15 Quranic verses in Arabic, with English n Urdu translation (as i was confused whether to attempt in English or Urdu). I am, therefore, unable to suggest you a good book for this paper. I can only say that you attempt this paper in English.

papers of 2010, if you go through, you ll find that most of the questions were "general" in nature.
especially when it comes to papers of islamiyat and pak affairs, u ll find the same trend of not being specific about any topic as in "write down the 14 points of Quaid" or "what are the articles of faith in Islam" so on n so forth.

These papers were rather analytical in nature so all those who hv a habit of cramming and vommiting in exams are in a big trouble! so what i would suggest is that attempt the islamiyat exam in english..if u r good at it..generally people attempting islamiyat in eng get good scores. well thats what people say. and then just have a basic idea of islam its teachings its articles of faith n comparison with other religions. and prepare a list of about 20-25 ayahs n hadith that can be written in exam acc to the context of question. plus if u dunt remember any ayah or hadith in that context then dunt try to forcefuly insert or adjust any bec it will have a negative impact..trust me.

Moreover I would suggest you to post queries in the relevant thread. since u asked about islamiyat here so i gave my suggestion here too. :happy:

I did post this question in the relevant thread...nobody answered so i went the Pakistani way ;)
I will IA attempt the paper in english cuz my written urdu isnt too expressive. Last yrs Qs may have been generic but how is one supposed to know the answer to "Fatwa qazi khan is an authentic fatwa of which of the 4 major schools of thought?" (MCQ). or, "In which surah has the Quba mosque been mentioned?" (MCQ). I mean MA, i have an above average knowledge of Islam as well as comparative religion but nobody can claim to know all these minute details. Subjective part of paper was still better, cuz its part of syllabus.

Thanx for the advise on memorizing ahadith wrt each topic..Helps.

Dear Aphrodite, I was reportedly informed that around five thousand candidates failed in the paper of Islamiyat alone in 2010. It wondered me because it was my first attempt in which I was only failed in aggregate securing 51 in Islamiyat.

I only read Dogar's Islamiyat in English and attempted in the same language. I can assure you that if your major concepts are clear, no paper can sound diasastrous to you because the mere change of words should not be interpreted as something "disastrous".

I hope to see you achieving good marks in Islamiyat.
