Physics- An Optional Subject

Please guide me regarding physics as an optional subject. Many people rather experienced candidates tag it a risky subject?

If you have firm grip on this subject andyour concepts are clear than opt physics.
I opt in CE-2016 but I replaced now with I.R.

Physics is a good subject as it covers 200 marks and opting this subject gives you liberty of not choosing unfamiliar subjects like one from the Law portion, Urban Management etc. But it proves to be a very tricky subject because either you know something or not. You can write at least something about public policing or Waste Management etc but you can't write about Doppler effect just out of blue. So, if you have good knowledge and have academic background in Physics then do opt it. Otherwise it becomes difficult to retain Physics.
I consider that you can prepare 75% throughout the year and 25% on the exam night when you have to revise what you have prepared throughout the year. Thus if you feel that you have some other subject where you can score average marks by just studying along other important subjects then opt that.

No doubt physics is a very good subject scoring as well. But it's considered risky it's because if you missed a formula of a single question it means you have lost 20 marks of the said question.

Physics is very vast subject, I will not select this subject even though my physics is strong.I think It is risky .

If you have strong grip on Physics then go for physics , otherwise i'll recommend I.R.

If you are still interested in Physics then i recommend kindly take proper classes from tutor for physics paper 1 , as paper 2 is easy and you can score 80+.

Don't opt physics in any case whether you are good at it or not. See physics paper 2 of CSS 2017 and you will definitely change your mind about your grip on physics.

I have taken Physics twice in my two CSS attempts (I love Physics). And I can tell you unless you have covered whole syllabus, bit by bit, practiced all numerical questions and drove equations you may find yourself in trouble specially in Paper 2.

The ask very unanticipated questions from every nook and corner of the vast syllabus.

Is physics syllabus really hard even for an engineer?

Yes, Physics is a hard subject to pass as 352 out of 582 candidates failed the exam in 2016.

If you have interest in it you may go along and have a look at its past papers, syllabus etc. However, I would recommend choosing some other subject instead.
