Default applied mathematics complete course and relevant books

Hi people,
I have done electrical engineering and i wish to appear for 2014 attempt. i have chosen applied maths as one of my optional.
As i was looking at past papers i came across few things which id like to share:

1) some years they have 2 sections in paper and sometimes 3.is it a permanent thing that from last few years onwards on there will be 3 sections in the paper or is it the authority of fpsc that if they wish there will be 2 sections or if they wish they can make 3 sections?

2) the more important question is that i would certainly appreciate some aspirant or any senior who can guide me about the best books on each section, both of paper 1 and paper 2.it would certainly be a great help if you post the books and their authors name section wise.

Please someone help me on this.

There was a member named Ayesha Mehmood who scored 190 in App Maths in 2011...
here is her suggestion for the books

Mechanics by Q.K.Ghori,
Vector and Tensor Analysis by Dr. Nawazish ali and Schaum's outlines
Numerical Analysis by Schaum's outlines or any B.Sc level book is sufficient
Differential Equations with boundary value problems by Zill and cullen, and ordinary and partial differential equations by Agerwall, Regan
