For an engineer, I must say applied math would be an excellent option. It is because engineers study it more than is required for CE. That means syllabus here is almost completed, what you need is just practice. However, people lose efforts and interest in it just to confirm the cliché that human hate to repeat things again and again: the boring stuff that you unwillingly have to solve those lengthy problems, derivations etc. To sum up, put applied math if it still interests you. Good luck.

Well , i got my freinds from your department in electrical . Some of them had a view that applied maths is not a goo subject , but many of them opted it too . And the reason was that they were good at maths . If you have got a passion for mathematics then it should not be difficult for you to score 150+. In Shaa Allah , i will come back to UET after Eid , keep in touch . :)

If you are good at your subjects then surely , any other subject would never be that much good for you than your subject i.e mathematics and economics .

You need to visit syllabus and past papers of Applied Mathematics to decide whether it is good for you or not. After visiting them, your innermost will give you a signal. If this signal is green then go ahead with Applied Mathematics as one of your optional subjects.:)
