Default Selection of Chemistry as an optional Subject

Asslam U Alikum
I did M. Phil in Biotechnology.
I am assuming that I can perform best in Chemistry as compared to IR (heard a lot of stuff about IR that it can be helpful in Current affairs). But as a student of Biology this subject is alien to me.
Can someone guide me about choosing optional subject wisely?
