confused about the details

AoA.
I have also opted chemistry as an optional subject.
But im confused about one thing, in the syllabus its written:
" Chemistry of the following elements--oxygen, carbon, chlorine, silicon, nitrogen and phosphorus"
how much detail of each of the following elements we have to do? There are no dimensions!!
they should have been more comprehensive..can anyone whos preparing chem plz tell me the details..ill be obliged :D
Thank you.

Sabeen as for the chemistry of the P block elements is concerned it basically deals with their prep rex and uses and if necessary their structure as it is evident from the syllabus tht its limits within the graduate level so take an appropriate book for inorganic chem and see wt it mentioned i consulted the bsc inorganic bok by Gulam Rasool along with other books

thnx alot!

Thankyou for providing me with the info.
but when im studying carbon, do i have to study only its preparation, reactions, uses and structure or am i supposed to study all the other states of carbon as well like C02, CO, C2O3...etc their prep and all??
this is basically what i was confused about.
and im also consulting an inorg book by Zafar iqbal.

@ sabeen

Chemistry of Carbon mean it position in periodic table, preparation, chemistry of its compounds, allotropic forms and same is true for all other elements.

Keep one thing in mind that the paper set in CSS is not a joke. u have to prepare it comprehensively. chemistry is scoring but the paper is not an easy one.
All those having bechelor degree should have a full pledge prep for it.

Inorganic by Zafar iqbal is more than sufficient.

Consult B.S Bahl for organic chemistry.

for physical Ilmi is good.

first, you must go through all past papers of chemistry and then go ahead for preparation according to the syllabus...Bsc books of chemistry are best but you should also go through matric and fsc books of chemistry, in 2011 exam there were some questions which were of matric or fsc level.e.g.octane number, catalytic cracking, measurement of heat of combustion, manufacture of NaOH by using NaCL,chemistry of hard and soft water etc...
and 2nd paper consists of organic part..which can be attempted well if u are interested in organic reactions, to write products, and conversions e.g convert benzene to this that etc....
what was your major subject in chemistry?
