Books For "Geology"

Gentlemen;
I know that people do not select subjects like Geology. Unfortunately, I have studied it for three long years in Engineering, but have not found any reliable book for it. If any one of you have opted it or have any idea about "Geology books for CSS", please help me.

I am an electrical engineer and work in oil & gas multinational based in karachi, i have no previous backgroungd in geology but going through the syllabus it seemed to me that geology is not a rocket science. Books

Aslam o alaikum!

No any single book can assist u in covering all the subdivisions of geology, you will have to consult atleast 5 to 7 books...

geology is divided into various branches like petroleum, engineering, paleontology, stratigraphy, structural, field etc. So you`ll have to study them individually....

Essentials of Geology (eighth edition) by frederick lutgens can help you for general geology. Beginners should read this book.

Not sure how a book about Micro paleontology would help you learn anything about fossils, it is one of the sections and its vast, you need a book that talks about paleontology in general and that which touches a bit of sedimentology. Principles of Paleontology by Raup & Stanley is a good book which does not cost a fortune unlike other textbooks about geology.
