Is Physics too tough to opt for?
Anybody expert on Physics there? I am being suggested to opt Physics only if i am an expert. I can understand it well enough, but can't handle tweaks and out of syllabus questions (as happened in 2017 paper). I can understand IR well enough but it is low scoring. What should I do & what would you recommend?

Second, go through syllabus, see for yourself how many topics you are already familiar with. If you're familiar with more than half of the topics in both papers, then I'd say you have a fair shot of doing good preparation for the course, as rest of the syllabus could be covered easily. However, if you only know two or three topics in the two papers, then you'd be better off choosing an other subject. Good luck Sent from my SM-G925I using Tapatalk |

Physics is neither tough nor easy. It is the examiners who make it so, at least as far as CSS physics is concerned. Just to say that the questions were not out of syllabus, thus justifiable does not hold water. Say for an instance, they have included a few broad topics from Quantum Mechanics, now QM is a very vast and complicated subject. So out of the few broad topics, the examiner zeroes in on a topic and out of the hundreds of sub-topics, chooses a rather unfamiliar one. It must be kept in mind that this is not a Masters in Physics exam. I always loved Physics and that is something I read and know more than anything else yet I was baffled with the Paper 2 of the Physics CE 2017. It had been easy till CE 2015, not easy anymore.

Again, the point is that the topics have a finite level of nesting. Take for an instance this question in Paper ll:
Describe the Stern Geriach experiment that provided experimental evidence of the space quantization of atomic magnetic moments. Of all the topics mentioned in the Modern and Quantum Physics section of the Syllabus, where would you place this question? Probably, in the "1. Angular momentum". Yes, it is in the scope of this topic. But if we accept this logic, then the syllabus covers almost whole Physics in the world ever taught in the universities. There is always a limit to the depth of the Syllabus, so in my opinion it was out of the Physics CSS syllabus, even if it was in the Physics syllabus per say. |
