Opting Physics Pros and cons
 

AOA.....please guide me on selecting optional subjects i want to opt [B]IR, history of USA, International Law and physics[/B] but i am not sure about physics...???.......i have interest in physics; i had physics in fsc but didnt study it after that i love studying theory of relativity, quantum mechanics and other interesting topics related to physics but em not sure what the real requirements of css paper are....so what should i do.....how much time will it require to prepare it and what are the best books for preparation of physics..
and as we give css after bachelors, [B]are they going to give questions of bachelors level or they can give phd level questions too ?[/B]....moreover if you think opting physics is a bad idea then [B]what else should i opt[/B]

Hi . Physics is not ur major subject so check its syllabus first . If u think the topics are of ur interest than go for it. Personally i think physics is hard nut to crack .
Usually people opt for the subjects that are marks gaining and are short in syllabus .
Do some research on other subjects u may consider of ur interest other than physics.
Css is a very individualistic exam, so do some introspection and judge your current standing with the preparation.

thank you for the reply......well you are absolutely right that css is an individualistic exam but i think guidance is also really important....and so can you suggest any subject other than physics....like some of those that are trending, marks gaining, short, and are helpful in essay too......excluding "gender studies" and languages and maths and computer and also economics...

Do u have grouping structure of subjects? Check groups bcz u have less option left if u dont wanna opt for one of them.
People usually opt for gender studies bcz it overlaps with many other. Do consider it.
And what were ur subjects in graduation?

Honestly , i am still confused about my opt subjects as its my first time. So i have very less knowledge about it.

Onwards revised syllabus 2016, opting Physics merely on FSc based is a huge mistake. There was a time, indeed, people used to opt physics with FSc course, but now that time has gone my friend. Now they are even given question from Master course. Just observe the paper of 2019, you will come to know about the question of [B]Quantum Mechanics i.e[/B] behavior of a particle in infinitely deep well, expectation values of momentum and Schrodinger time-independent/time-dependent equations. They have also supplied some questions which I had studied long ago in my Master but didn't revive them after that from [B]Electromegnatic Physics[/B] i.e Biot and savart law(repeated question); [B]Classical Mechanice[/B] i.e Hamiltonian Operator, and one question was purely from [B]Electronics master[/B] level course i.e Working of LC Oscillator and Barkhaausian criteria for Oscillation etc. Now if you can solve such questions then go for it without asking anyone any further.
Please note that I am not discouraging you from opting Physics because they also, sometimes, provide easy question which can solve even an FSc student i.e Nuclear reactor, Electromagnetic waves and cyclotron were in Physics 2019 paper but I would suggest you and everyone go for it after revising and solving at least last 5years papers. If you can solve from these papers only 20marks i.e one question from each of these past papers then you should go for it otherwise be careful. As per my observation, such paper is prepared by a Professor of University who is affectionate and acquaintance with the teaching of Master level course.

[ As per my observation, the numerical in CSS papers are given mostly from this very books' exercise. Therefore, must buy and go through this book for Physics preparation in CSS exam.

[I][I think, if you follow only these two sources and solve out last five years paper, they can also let you pass both CSS Physics papers with good marks][/I]
