Default Please Solve These Questions

I am unable to solve these questions. Somebody please help me. I have got these questions from some pakistani author book.

1) There were 30 members in a certain hosted. If 10 members are more admitted, the expenses of the mess was increased by Rs. 40 per month while the average expenditure per head diminished by Rs. 2. What are the original Monthly Expenses are?

2) The average expenditure of a man for the first 7 months is Rs. 120 and for the next 5 months is Rs. 130. He withdrew a sum of Rs. 220 from his bank. What is his average monthly income is?

Waiting for the reply anxiously.

Expenditures for 7 months = 120 x 7 = 840
Expenditures for 5 months = 130 x 5 = 650

Total for one year comes to = 1490

Less with drawn amount, 1490 - 220 = 1270

Average for one month = 1270/12=

Thumbs up

1) There were 30 members in a certain hosted. If 10 members are more admitted, the expenses of the mess was increased by Rs. 40 per month while the average expenditure per head diminished by Rs. 2. What are the original Monthly Expenses are?

Let x = Original monthly cost
& y = Average expenditure per head

Two equations will be formed from the data

equation - 1 => y = x/30
equation - 2 => y-2 = (x+40)/40

Putting the value of y from equation - 1 into equation - 2 we get,

=> (x/30)-2 = (x+40)/40
=> (x-60)/30 = (x+40)/40
=> (x-60)/3 = (x+40)/4
=> 4x-240 = 3x+120 By cross multiplication
=> 4x-3x = 120+240 By rearranging
=> x = 360 Ans.

2) The average expenditure of a man for the first 7 months is Rs. 120 and for the next 5 months is Rs. 130. He withdrew a sum of Rs. 220 from his bank. What is his average monthly income?

The solution made by rana g is right

Good Luck

Ans. => x = 360 Ans
Dear bro, to me, ur ans duz not seem rite. I have tried it manually to verify the above statement. Look at..

If monthly expdtr is = 360

Averge expdtr of 40 members are 360/40 = 9

Averge expdtr of 30 members are 320/30 = 10.66

Average expdtre of 40 members is diminished by 1.66 not 2........

Did u mean to do it round of???

@Rana G

In my opinion Abbasi sb is right becuase:

x = original expenditure before addition of 10 members which is 360.

if x = 360

then average expenditure = x/30 = 360/30 = 12

and we add extra 40 Rs for 10 additional members then it is:

x + 40 = 360 + 40 = 400

and average after addition = (x + 40)/40 = 400/40 = 10

so average expenditure reduced from Rs 12 to Rs 10.
