Can anyone solve it please.
Following are the MCQs. I would be greateful, if any one can solve this for me.
Q.1 if X+Y=3 and Y/X=2 then Y is equal to (a) 0 (b) 1/2 (c) 1 (d) 3/2 (e) 2 Q.2 when 4 is subtracted from one half of an unknown number, it is equal to 6, the number is: (a) 28 (b) 20 (c) 18 (d) 15 (e) 12 Q.3 if it is 250km from karachi to Nawabshah and 120km from karachi to Kotri, what percentage of distance from karachi to Nawabshah is the distance from karachi to Kotri? (a) 12 (b) 24 (c) 36 (d) Rs. 48 (e) 52 Q.4 In a garment factory, a skilled worker can make 8 T-shirts in 18 minutes. at this rate, how many T-shirts can she make in 3 hours? (a) 13 (b) 40.5 (c) 80 (d) 125 (e) 405 Q.5 whish of the following is not a Government Debt Instrument? (a) T-bill (b) FIB (c) PIB (d) TFC (e) DSG while replying to above MCQs, please explain how you did it. Thanks. Regards. |
1. x+y=3 and y/x=2
or y=2x so x+2x=3 3x=3 x=1 so y=2 2. Lets that number is x so x/2-4=6 x/2=6+4 x=2(10) x=20 3. karachi to nawabshah=250 karachi to kotri=120 so % of distance=120/250*100=48 4. Number of shirts i.e. 8t=18 so one t shirt time = 18/8=2.25minutes so xt=180 as 3 hours = 180min 2.25x=180 x=180/2.25=80 5. This is done by method of elimination as T bill=tresury bill FIB=federal investment bonds PIB=pakistan investment bond TFC=term finance certificate so only thing we dont know remains DSG, so in my opinion it is DSG. But one word of caution as TFC are also issued by private corporations, so not much sure about it. Regards |
Q.1 if X+Y=3 and Y/X=2 then Y is equal to
(a) 0 (b) 1/2 (c) 1 (d) 3/2 (e) 2 Solution If Y/X = 2, Then Y=2X Now put the value of Y in equation (i) X+2X=3, 3X = 3, X = 1 Y/X = 2, Y/1 = 2 , Y = 2 Q.2 when 4 is subtracted from one half of an unknown number, it is equal to 6, the number is: (a) 28 (b) 20 (c) 18 (d) 15 (e) 12 Solution First of all v will make the equation, let say unknown number is X X/2-4=6 X/2 = 10 X= 20 Q.3 if it is 250km from karachi to Nawabshah and 120km from karachi to Kotri, what percentage of distance from karachi to Nawabshah is the distance from karachi to Kotri? (a) 12 (b) 24 (c) 36 (d) Rs. 48 (e) 52 Solution Distance from Kchi to Nsbh 250 km Distance from Kchi to Kotri 120 km Distance Kchi to kotri/Kchi to Nshb * 100 120/250 * 100 = 48 Q.4 In a garment factory, a skilled worker can make 8 T-shirts in 18 minutes. at this rate, how many T-shirts can she make in 3 hours? (a) 13 (b) 40.5 (c) 80 (d) 125 (e) 405 Solution T Shirts Minutes 8 18 X 180 Relation of proportion is direct not inverse as increase in minutes will result in increase of T shirts hence 180 : 18 :: X : 8 18X = 180 x 8 X = 80 |

Are u sure that the statements and options in 1st three questions are right? Please check the solutions and tel me about my mistakes specially senior members 4. A batsman has a certain average of runs for 11 innings. In the 12 th inning he scores 129 runs, thereby increasing his average by 9 runs. What is his average for the first 11 innings? Solution: let average of 11 innings b x then player got x for 11 times and 129 for one time so average is (11x+129)/12 which is greter than x by 9 =>(11x+129)/12 =x+9 =>11x+129=12x+108 =>x=21 5. A and B enterd into a partnership invseting rs. 12000 and rs. 15000 respectively.B was also a working partner and got 25% of the profit for their work.what was the total profit in rupees, if a got rs.8000 as his share? Solution: let B has got share x then ratio b/w investments of A & B = ratio b/w their share =>12000/15000=8000/x =>x=10000 total price they got on the basis of investments is 10000+8000=18000 if B gets 25% of total profit on being active member then the amount of 18000 is 75% of total profit so profit=18000*100/75=24000 6) A shopkeeper sold an electric iron at 10% profit. Had he sold an iron at 20% profit, he would have gain rs.%) more. The cost price of the fan was: Solution: if x is original price then the cost price with 10% profit is x+.1x and with 20% profit is x.2x which is 96Rs. more than with the 10% profit =>x+.2x=x+.1x+96 =>x=960 Rs. 5) a goods train left Lahore for Multan at an average speed of 45KM/HR.five hour later an express train left the same station at an average speed of 60 km/ hr following the goods tarain on the parallel track. How far from Lahore did the express train overtake the goods train? Solution: let that distance coverd b x then time taken by goods train to cover it is=x/45 hrs and by express to cover it is x/60 hrs express is started 5 hrs late so x/45=x/60+5 =>4x=900+3x =>x=900 km 6)a man can row 30 km downstream and 18 km upstream each in 3 hours.the speed of the boat in still water is: Solution: downstream in 3 hrs distance =30 km so speed is 10 km/hr upstream in 3 hrs distance =18 km so speed is 6 km/hr so in still wter speed will b the average of both the speeds which is (6+10)/2km/hr i.e. 8 km/hr |

@ATIF FAUN
Dear Brother, The formula to calculate average is: Average = Sum of Items/Total number of items Now, in this case, we don't know how many runs the batsman has scored in first 11 innings so we suppose that the average runs of the batsman in first 11 innings is 'x'. Now use the above formula to calculate the total sum of runs the batsman made in 11 innings: Put Total number of items = 11, Average = x, so Sum of items(innings) = 11x Now, it is told that batsman made 129 runs in 12th innings. So to find average of 12 innings we add the runs mande in 12 innings and divide it by 12. Average of 12 Innings = Sum of runs in 12 innings/ 12(Total no. of innings) Now, runs in 11 innings are 11x and for 12th innings runs are 129. Sor total runs for 12 innings are: 11x+129 Divide it by 12 to find average of 12 innings: (11x+129)/12 Now the question says that this new average(average of 12 innings) increase his old average(average of 11 innings) by 9 runs. So old average in this case was 'x'. So according to question: New Average = Old Average + 9 (11x+129)/12 = x + 9 Solving this equation yields x = 21. It means that batsman's average for 11 innings was 21. Hope it helps. Regards, |

6) A shopkeeper sold an electric iron at 10% profit. Had he sold an iron at 20% profit, he would have gain rs.%) more. The cost price of the fan was:
Cost price is to be determined so Let the cost price= x Then 10 percent of it will be x * 10% = x * 10/100 = x* 0.1= .1x So the price with 10% profit will be= cost price + Profit = x+ .1x similarly the price with 20% profit on cost price will be= x + .2x Then given condition tells that when sold at 20% profit shopkeaper gets 96 more than selling at 10 % profit.( I think I've taken 96 value by myself as it's not given in question) So we have Price with 20% profit = Price with 10% profit +96 => x+.2x=x+.1x+96 =>.1x=96 => x=960 If he had written value with capslock on then %) will be 50 then answer will be 500. |
