dear statistics is rarely opted by hopefuls due to its misperception of being low scoring. reality is something different. staistics can give you high marks if you prepare it well. try the books of prof. Sher Muhammad Chaudhry book I & II cover the whole css syllabus.

If you have command on the subject and if you have aptitude for it then u must go for stats and if not then it is better to avoid. statistics is a quantitative subject which makes it two edged sword, means if it can fetch good marks it can drop you to zero. you have studied stats at b.com level then you should analyse past papers. i do not think that you would not require any extra efforts for the subject to make it scoring for you. well, i have opted statistics because i have studied it till my masters level. not only statistics but also "econometrics" which is also like statistics. Other qualitative subjects would not drop u to zero. so, here is a risk "higher the risk, higher the profit" but we should not ignore the other side of coin i.e., higher risk also leads to higher losses.
