Default Governance & Public Policies, thoughts and suggestions.

Governance & Public Policies

I have never studied this subject before, but looking at the syllabus, it seems like a mix between Public Administration and Political Science with a pinch of Sociology.

Quote:
Syllabus

I. Basic Concepts of Governance:

II. Governance Theories:

III. Governance Indicators laid by World Bank/IMF/UNESCO/UNDP/ADB, their
Explanation & Application Level in Pakistan:

IV. Public Policy and Planning Institutions and their role in Plannng

V. Accountability:

VI. Bureaucracy:

VII. Public Policy Formulation and Implementation

VIII. Multi-level Governance in Pakistan:

IX. Federalism, Devolution and Decentralization

X. Role of Citizens in Governance

XI. Good Governance in Islam
Judging by the syllabus, do you think, this subject would be "easier" to grasp for a person with a background in Political Science?

Also considering this subject is new, and we have no idea what it would be like in CSS examination, with little to no guidance. Do you think it would be "risky" to opt this subject or not?

What are your thoughts on this subject's prospect of being "scoring"

Looking forward to your thoughts and suggestions.

I think it will be "easier" for a person who really knows what is "Political Science". As per my view, this subject actually deals with practical application and complexities of all the philosophical work of political science.

It will be risky if you never try to see the papers of G & PP else where. I mean to say, if you can understand the minds of paper makers of FPSC and you also know how a G & PP papers looks like in Universities and colleges, then the risk much mild.

Post Policy Process in Pakistan

There are 6 stages in policy process, i.e., Problem identification, agenda setting, policy formulation, policy legitimization, policy implementation and finally policy evaluation. However, referenced to your question, a problem is first identified through discussing its activities, opinions about the problem, the participants or the causing agents of a problem and how it goes and then its agenda is set by observing where the problem is influencing the most and then raising awareness about the problem more information is acquired and thus the agenda setting for the particular problem takes place. E.g. Lets suppose, we have a problem of health issue at any place. The problem will be identified by having a look at the activities/trends of the area like hygiene, sanitation and sewage system, then a hypothesis will be formulated about the outbreak of the problem and then the proposed hypothesis will look at the situation to verify its validity that will help in agenda setting.
Hopefully, this answer is satisfying and helps in the exam.
