Can anyone answer a few queries of mine related to G&PP?

If someone who has opted this subject is needed to give answers to the following questions which are as follows.

1 - Is it a conceptual subject?
2 - How much time does it take for the preparation?
3 - Would it be a wise decision to opt it in 2018, while keeping in view the 2017 paper?
4 - Are there any good book(s) available in the market which could cover the whole syllabus?
5 - Does this subject require an extensive study from different sources or one can just only rely on the books(if one could find
good ones from the market)?
6 - Is it difficult or easier than Public Administration?

Please reply if someone has opted this subject.

This subject is purely conceptual.
You need to be well aware of politics and policy making procedure of Pakistan in order to get good score. Moreover, it is mandatory to get full knowledge about current constitution of Pak. No single book can cover the whole syllabus and extensive study would help you to make distinction. CE-2017 paper was quite easy though as compare to CE-2016.

What do you say about Public Administration? Is it conceptual too?

1. G & PP is of both practical and conceptual nature. But last time, in CSS exam 2017, Paper was more conceptual and paper setter had ignored aspect of Policy while focusing entirely on Governance (except a question on Policy or Planning process in Pakistan)

2. If you prepare strictly while strictly keeping in view topics of outline given by FPSC syllabus for G & PP, 20 days are more than enough, I think.

3. Whether one should opt this subject or not will depend upon other alternatives one has in view. However, pattern of this paper in 2017 seems more score gaining as each question has been divided into parts (which require more precise and objective answers).

4. I couldn't find any good book available in market on this subject as it is newly added subject to CSS optionals. All these books contain highly confused material. Even a book written by a female has been totally copied from wikipedia. So alternative is online sources esp. ppt slides and presentations which are available online e.g. Slideshare & Youtube are more helpful in this case.

5. If one can find a good book from market on this subject, it will surely be time saving. I think that one should prepare each topic with RELEVANT EXAMPLES esp. in context of Pakistan. Diversity of examples and hence better understanding of topics can be achieved from online sources.

7. If you can prepare THEORIES OF GOVERNANCE easily, you'll find this subject easier than Public administration (and even more scoring as most of my fellows got better marks--more or less seventy.

Thank you for such a detailed reply. I can't believe my eyes that you've given answers to all questions. Now your reply will help in making a selection between PA and GPP.

Hi,
Many congratulations on clearing the written part :bow
I tried sending you a message but got to know that the service has been disabled on this forum. I thought you had to 'befriend' someone to enable that.
Anyways, I had a few queries regarding G&PP. Would you be kind enough to drop me an email (mentioned in my profile) or provide me yours?
Thanks
