Can you suggest books regarding this subject?

This is a pretty fun subject to do but you need to put in some effort because it's new so fairly unpredictable. In saying that I have no background in the town planning but still managed a 77 in CSS 2019. So doable.

Would you plz share your strategy for this subject? Its specific book or any good source to study?
I am an engineer, I did opt this for 2020 but i didn't find any good sources to study, so my paper went very general.

You are going again in 2021?

I am preparing town planning from JWT book but it is more like short notes we prepare in bullet form with no or less details. I have tried FPSC recommended Levy's book too but it is almost useless. Now I am relying on the internet but if I go on like this I would be attempting this paper with my engineering knowledge only--- can't say that would be enough.

And how did you prepare Environmental Science? It is more about ineffective laws and less about environment. I am facing trouble as I can't remember all those meetings and agendas.

I mostly did it off the internet and didn't consult any book. I supplemented my attempt of the questions with a lot of diagrams and figures. I'll try to link below as many of the resources that I originally used for TPUM but when I was preparing I made a separate document with my own notes topic by topic and sometimes simply copy pasted into that off the internet without linking back. So that might be a problem but these should cover a good chunk of the course.

Definition of Town Planning, Goals and objectives of Town Planning: Town Planning as a multi-disciplinary approach and relationship of Town Planning with other professions.
Basic terminology: http://townplanninglectures.blogspot...d-in-town.html
(These might seem like too many but TPUM is a separate discipline. Words we use everyday mean someting different and more technical when used within this subject. So just give them a quick read through if nothing else.)

Town Planning as a multi-disciplinary approach: Town Planning and urban managers do research and analysis, strategic thinking, architecture, urban design, public consultation, policy recommendations, implementation and management. https://uwm.edu/sarup/urban-planning/faq/
This question repeats a lot so prepare it well.

Historical Perspective of Urban Planning: Planning of historical towns in the world. Examples of planned towns in Europe, Nile Valley region, Euphrates and Tigris Valley region and Indus Valley region (Mohenjodaro, Harappa, Kot Diji and Mehr Garh and Gandhara Civilization).

This CSS forum has some good points on each civilization: http://www.cssforum.com.pk/css-optio...ss-2016-a.html
I mostly studies this from Sisters notes. She's a fine arts students and they study a lot of historical cities and cultures. Look through some importnat cities and features of towns from each of the sub-topic. The layouts can easily be remembered and reproduced. It is fairly easy to do and this is a fun question to attempt.

Urban Rural Differences and Hierarchy of Settlements: Urbanization and its effects on the environment of urban areas.
Difference between urban and rural: https://keydifferences.com/differenc...and-rural.html
settlement hierarchy: https://study.com/academy/lesson/set...ategories.html | http://townplanninglectures.blogspot...d-in-town.html

can't find the links but this is an easy enough topic to find material on

History of planning in Pakistan: 5 year plans, Regional Plans, Master Plans etc.
I sort of skipped this topic since it was just too vast. but I did an overall reading from here: http://www.pide.org.pk/pdf/PDR/1996/Volume4/443-465.pdf

Land use classification policy

zoning and land use control: http://townplanninglectures.blogspot...e-control.html
Classification of land use: https://www.aboutcivil.org/classific...-land-use.html
Land use planning: https://www.aboutcivil.org/land-use-planning.html
Introduction to Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) + Urban Information Systems: Use of planning related software and spatial analysis tools and systems e.g. GIS, SPSS etc.

https://www.aboutcivil.org/component...mechanism.html

Housing community and Economic Development: To prepare professionals with the skills and knowledge of equitable development. Commitment to expanding opportunities and providing quality of life for disadvantaged groups. + Public Policy and Urban Design Management: Solving social and environmental problems using: a. Economics, b. Policy analysis, c. Political science and d. Urban Design + Sustainability, Environmental Policy and Planning: How society conserves and manages its natural resources and works to promote development, while conserving and maintaining healthy environment.

All three of these requires a lot of reading online and watch videos too. This is where a lot of creativity and opinion based questions come in. https://youtu.be/oBNiBS5UaJg | https://youtu.be/fcDDUSUbq9A | https://youtu.be/NaTd_B2K5zo

I didn't decide yet for 2021. Will decide after dmc.
For TPUM i too read selectively from Clara H Greed, john M. Levy and JWT books but in paper I recalled only the conceptual points not others. Maybe I didn't read it thoroughly.
In this thread madam aisha gave good strategy to tacke TPUM.

For environment science, I have wasted my time on all these dullish agreements and agendas but didn't memorize so I paid for it in paper. For this one need proper notes making and cramming.
