Default Vague Syllabus Of Us & British History

Can anyone kindly give me some insight regarding US and British history because there isnt any detailed syllabus for these 2 online atleast. In brit history, it merely mentions the time period i.e, 1688-present day and in US history it may ask anything from the early settlers to present day.

Getting a bit ambiguous here; is there any way or any book which would have the most comprehensive history of US and Britiain, in which I wont have any chance of missing out on any topic...
