Jehangir Brother! Maneka is right. Every book is a good book provided a right approach is developed for studying a book. However i strongly believe that any book may be preferable for some topics but not for all. Therefore i enlist the books i have studied and will also add which book is strong in which particular topic:

1.Europe Since Napoleon by David Thomson.(French Revolution, Revolutions of 1830 and 1948, Industrial Revolution)

2.Aspects of European History by Dr Stephen J. Lee.(Napoleon Bonaparte(Excellent), Role of Cavour And Bismarck, League of Nations, Great Depression, Europe Political and Economic Integration, THE FORCES OF NATIONALISM IN EUROPE)

3.Modern European History 1789-1980 by H.L.Peacock (French Revolution and Eastern Question)
4.Mastering Modern European History by Stuart T. Miller(This book may be used as a supplementary source. It is not good for any topic independently but may help u indirectly).
5.History of Modern Europe since 1789 by V.D. Mahajan(Napoleon Adventures, various coalition formed to counter Napoleon, Napoleon III, and for such topics as the two unifications and the Russian Bolshevik Revolution where events are required in a sequence)

6.Mastering Modern World by Norman Lowe.(This is an excellent book for twentieth century world. It will reduce your labour because the author has simplified every topic by giving good headings.Foreign policies of Hitler, Mussolini, Chamberlain Appeasement Policy towards Hitler and Impacts of the Two Great Wars are some very good topics).

I agree with you.But Mr.Usman was just doing what was being asked. He was asked which books should be consulted etc and according to me he gave his honest opinion.I have gone through almost all these books and that is why i think he is correct in every detail.
but i agree that css is all about numbers than intellect.

Regards
