I think its not a good choice to opt 200 marks history unless until you have a strong grip and vast study of the subject. Otherwise 100 marks history subject like American history is a better choice...Criticism is more than welcome

i had indian history and it was the lowest scoring optional subject i had this year. i also agree with doctor sahib that it's safer to opt for 100 marks subjects and not stick to histories.

science subjects like geography and psychology are also good choices. a css qualifier like amna ji will definitely do great in anything like them.

all the best.

Could anyone offer his or her analysis or opinion on the choice of Indo-pak history?

Default @all

Well first of all i would negate the concept of scoring and non scoring subjects. I have taken 3 chances of css 2007 to 2009. In 2007 i got 138 in indo pak. in 2008 it scored 128 and i dont know the score for 2009 yet, but the paper was quite easy this time. What i have learned is that all subjects are scoring and all subjects are not scoring rather this concept is flawed to some extent. It all depends upon how well one prepare a subject. There are people who score well in Islamic history, European history, philosophy, Accounting, Arabic, Urdu and Persian etc. Each year some subjects give more score and some give less score but it does not depends upon the nature of subject rather the type of paper and taste of paper checker.
So one should choose a subject based on
1. previous understanding about the subject
2. guidance avaialble of the subject
3. how much efforts are required such as for Persian, Arabic and geography one has to go for coaching.
4. Availability of good notes/books/material
and lastly personal inclination towards subject like subject must not look boring to the reader.

I will suggest to read syllabus and past papers at least of last 10 years for 3 times at least and than one will feel easy to decide whether one should opt a subject or not (read syllabus then read paper, then read syllabus, papers, syllabus, papers)

well I favor Indo-Pakistan History. It also helped me in Pak Affairs

comments are welcome

dear shoaib,

the point is sometimes examiners of these subjects expect something outstanding from the candidates. like my indian history exam was relatively better than that of political science but the latter gave me better score (128) than the former (96). i am a qualifier and you can trust my assessment of my own performance.

indian history is generally considered notorious for low-scores. my subject selection was questioned by many. even though my merit has been affected, but my group hasn't.

candidates are at their own discretion. i disclaim any responsibility.

regards,
