I used V. D. Mahajan for the most part. Along with it, I also studied David Thomson. But I think VDM is enough for 80% of the topics. For a few topics (~20%), D. Thom. is a better choice. Lastly, I made ample use of internet. And with the change in syllabus, recent historical developments (post-1960) will have to be covered from the internet as well, or some new book.

I have studied whole book of V.D Mahajan. But it seems some topics are missing in this book according to new syllabus

Related to European Union from 1990 till 2012.

If you re-read my comment where I told you the books I studied, you will notice that I have said in the last sentence that syllabus has changed and that might necessitate extra study. According to the old syllabus, 1789-1960 was the period to be covered, not beyond it. So, I cannot guide you about a thing which I myself haven't studied. But, in any case, I recommend that you cover this period from online resources. If you can find a proper book, that is best. Otherwise, use internet.

Hey Cogito. I am in a similar position as you were. I like E.H. and I find it very interesting. I was thinking of going with it, esp since I don't know abc of US history and know only bits and pieces of B.H. Your post confirmed my suspicion. I saw some similar posts from other people in E.H section.
I don't think I should gamble over it. If you were in in my place, which history you would have gone for instead of this?

If you have already covered all the other optionals, choose B. H. That is the only history which still fetches a relatively good score (emphasis on 'relatively'—because histories in general are being discouraged as far as scoreing trends are concerned). If you have other optionals yet to study, and you have to choose one history subject, then go for US. Its syllabus can be covered in a relatively shorter time (again, emphasis on 'relatively').

If you have not studied European history up till now. and you have less time for preparation for CE-2016. Then i ll suggest you to opt US history. It is simple to understand and requires less time.

Didn't you study from Stephen J. Lee ?
How good is it ?
I am studying from Stephen J. Lee.
Also, I need to know what went wrong in your EU paper ?
Did you take help from some teacher ?
What must be a length or an answer ? Do we write headings ?
