I've studied this book only and I feel its sufficient.. but do your homework, have a look at the previous papers pattern, a leave the unnecessary chapters. but those selected prepare thoroughly.

In addition to that, get B V Rao's World History, its a small book, and have a look at only course related chapters. It is short and comprehensive, so very helpful.

Best

V D MAHAJAN IS the most Extensive and appropriate book for European history .
David Thompson is for general concept reading and it requires ,from it's readers to prepare their own notes , as I am an ardent opponent of notes making so I will certainly suggest MAHAJAN.
MAHAJAN requires at least 3 readings, before it is under your control.

BUT IF someone is preparing for 2014 , he should consider this fact that it's one of the most demanding subjects of CSS.
So you must consider alternative options as European history requires much toil and effort.
On the other hand subjects like sociology, punjabi etc are very easy to handle.

@ intifida

british history is also very scoring but keep this in mind its second paper is lengthy, you should have a strong command over the events and the detail of them. first portion is relatively easy as it contain wars and can be easily understood and for that one must consult southgate along with norman lowe.

BRITISH HISTORY IS MOT SCORING BASED ON RECENT TRENDS.
But somehow Eu history which is only opted by a handful of competitors is VERY scoring.
I know a number of people who scored 150 in EUROPEAN HISTORY.

So if you are able to meet its challenge, there is a great chance that you will score big.

EUROPEAN HISTORY SUB FORUM is like an abandoned CASTLE.
People visit it on weekends.

After my exams of CSS 2013 , I will be available on this subforum for the help of all newcomers ,as I got no guidance from here ,and had to do all the work by trail and error .

But I hope you people who are opting for European history will not have the same complaint .
INSHA ALLAH.
Stay blessed.
