i am posting study plan of EH part I from past papers i hope it will help u in preparation thanx


French Revolution

2000. The Philosophers exposed the French Society in such a way that the Revolution (1789) became inevitable. Discuss.
2001. Write down the main causes of the French Revolution.
2003. Elaborate the causes of the French revolution and the circumstances leading to overthrow of the King.
2004. Highlight the influence of French philosophers to bring about French revolution of 1789.
2004. Trace the course of the French Revolution from 1789 to 1791.
2006. Was the French Revolution inevitable? Could it have been averted? Discuss.
2007. Explore the symbolism of French Revolution.
2009.“The French Revolution was precipitated by economic factors and the train which had been laid by finance”. (Guedella). Comment.
2010.A little part of the middle of the 18th century ,the mental Revolution –necessary fore-runner of the actual revolution had already taken possession of the major section of French society(F.Scheville).Discuss it


National Convention
2002. Discuss the developments in France from 1791 to 1793 with particular regard to the Legislative Assembly, foreign War and the National Convention.

Napoleon Bonaparte
2000. What factors brought England face to face with France in the War of 1793 and 1803’? Why Britain was unable to win?
2002. Discuss the Continental system in theory and practice, including its effects on Great Britain, the Continent and neutral nations. Was it a success or failure and why?
2003. Give an estimate of Napoleon as Emperor, statesman and warrior.

Congress of Vienna
2002. Analyze the Congress of Vienna, its purposes territorial settlement and major participants. Assess the Congress in terms of its success and failures.
2005. In all the territorial readjustments during the Vienna Settlement, there was little that was permanent and much that was temporary. Explain.
2007. Critically examine the terms of political arrangements reached at the congress of Vienna

Concert of Europe
2003. “The Concert of Europe was a league to bind Europe in chains.” Comment.
2006. What do u understand by Concert of Europe? How far do you agree with the view that it was a "league to bind Europe in chains
2007. Research the nationalist ideology of the Pan Slav movement which began to emerge following the end of the wars in 1815.

Napoleon III
2000. The ambitious foreign policy of Napoleon III labeled him Un-Napoleonic Napoleon. Comment
2001. Critically analyze the character and Politics of Napoleon III.
2008. How did napoleon III help pioneer the modern techniques of politics?
2010. Napolean –III was the 'great sphinx'. Give an estimate of him.



The Eastern Question 1820 to 1878
2003. Crimean War reopened the Eastern Question and disturbed the state system established by the congress of Vienna. Trace the events from 1853 – 56.
2004.“Out of the mud of Crimea a new Italy was made and less obviously a new Germany? Elaborate.
2005. Define “Eastern Question”. Describe its main phases from 1820 to 1878.

2006. Do you agree with the view that, "Italy as a nation is the legacy and life work of Cavour"Elaborate.

Metternich
2008. Write on the subject of Democracy in the context of Europe (1815 to 1848).

Revolution in France in 1830 and 1848

Please also consult the followings:

1. Europe Since Napoleon by David Thompson

2. European History by Stephan J Lee

3. A history of the Modern World by Palmer & Colton.

Mahajan's is a good book but NOT enough.

is Europe Since Napoleon by David Thomson and internet is enough for prep or some other books should consult

V D MAHAJAN is enough , enough and enough .
David thompsons book is a good read but not much helpful as he has written the book not from the point of view of ready made material presentation . One has to work hard to get the material out of David thompsons book.
And I am saying this after reading both books.
