the right way to answer questions in Indo-Pak History

dear friends and seniors,
As a background introduction i am umar abbas, and plan to appear in my CSS examinations in 2010inshallah. I have a background in O and A levels and afterwards did away with my engineering. Recently i have started my preparations for the ultimate dream of my life i.e. the CSS. But my progress was soon bogged down as i was confused about a certain number of things, especially while attempting History Questions.

Let me briefly pen them down:

1) Do i need to be specific and to the point, or be more elaborate in answering questions. As an example the following two questions need to be considered.

The Arab invasion of Sind was an event of great potential and far reaching consequences. Discuss in detail. (1985) and Critically analyze the circumstances which led to the Muslim conquest of Sind in the early eighth century A.D. (1989)

Now my query is to adopt the same style while answering these questions, or unlike the traditional approach, I need to be more specific while answering them. In a bird's eye view these questions might mean the same, but if analyzed properly they are for two different purposes. I would love to get an urgent and honest reply to this thread as soon as possible.

2) My second querry is whether my writing style needs to be distinct from the rest of the pack or be part of the crowd and write in the same conventional style. Is uniqueness appreciated in CSS???

@umarabbas

wellcome to the forum

u can not adopt same style while answering these questions,they demand differently.

1st question is asked becoz there is view held by hindu writers and western writers like like Elphinstore, Wolsely Haig and Lane Poole that Arab conquest of Sindh "Was A Triumph Without Results"they say that Arab conquest of Sindh was without any impact on the history of subcontinent as well as Islam. Now we got to prove this perception wrong as question demand
in the 2nd question u simply got to analyze the circumstances which led to the Muslim conquest of Sind,i e causes of Arab invasion.

Salam,

@UmmarAbbas,

Uniqueness is appreciated in CSS exams, but this creativity and uniqueness must address all the requirements of the questions... Usually it depends a lot on the examiner even then if one handles the question appropriately by covering all the aspects to the satisfaction of the examiner with references then it fetches good score.

All the Best...

evey question has its own requirements.and there is no any one formula for all the questions.
