Default Post WWII Portion

I have studied Majumdar's 2 volumes and it covers up to Nixon's tenure with no hint of cold war. While in past papers, at least 3 questions are asked from post WWII portion, specially pertaining to USA's Foreign policies. Which book to follow for that portion?

Thanks but can someone mention any good book for that portion (like Majumdar). I find it hard to study material in soft form for a long time, so it will be a great help to mention books instead of websites

  1. after world war ii era of cold war started
  2. the cold war era started from 1945 to 1989
  3. this cold war era led to emergence of two major powers soviet union and Us
  4. both super powers very different in their ideologies
  5. the former had marxist while later was democratic liberalism
  6. the foreign policies of both countries too was very different
  7. Russia who emerged after fall of Russian empire through bolsevik revolution wanted to have friendly relations with central asian countries while Us had aggressive foreign policy towards soviet union
  8. the aggressive foreign policy of Us towards Soviets strengthened by truman doctrine qouted by george kennan in this article x.
  9. george kennan was of the view that "while soviets continue to feel unsecurely military .US will continue to adopt aggressive foreign policy towards soviets.
  10. besides there were some misconceptions that led to the development of hostility
  11. for example formation of Nato considered by soviets as Us had thwart her fruits of victory over germany.the subsequent crack down over yogoslavia and berlin blockade by Soviets was the answer and then korean war where soviets deployed satellite military assistence to support civilian combat considered by Washington as aggressive approach .they inreturn deployed Us forces in japan which is thought by soviets as an aggressive approach to control manchuria and siberia
So these misconception added fuel to fire and led to development of hostility indirectly
13 At the same time it was the period of decolonization where India in 1947 and then africa in 1957 to 63 (check date m not sure) got independence
14 thus later these two countries used these newly emerged nation states a tool to serve their intrests in proxy wars
15 1st the berlin blockade when soviets cut off westren routes to berlin and subequently Us britain and france for about 13 months(check it) supplied through air.but when soviets formed berlin wall wall in 1949 around west part of berlin controlled by us france and britain.situation become aggrevated.this wall though broke down in 1989.but this era had witnessed proxy wars in korea africa middle east and horn of africa
16 next was korean crises when north korean (communist supported by their alllies like china soviets ) forayed in southern korea with hope to make cordial relations with soviets.war ened in 1953
17 next was cuban missle crises where soviets deployed 1962 their missles 90 miles from Us .us high altitude planes result in rise in tensions though both countries negotiated through unofficial meeting between nikita khruschev and john F kennedy(check presidents) with blackage placed on cuba
18 and then vietnam war where Us was defeated decisively in gurrella war trained by communist allies north korea china against south vietnam supported by non communist allies south korea us britain.the aim was if influence of communists hadnot been ended it will fall like a chain of dominos .while the non communists belligrents failed to defeat domino effect.it backfired for example after defeat of Us.its allies like canada rifted with Us.
Several occasions came where both super power choose either to not react or act.(check the examples in karen mingst book)
The middle east crises the arab israel war where israel controlled west bank gollan heights and gaza defeated arabs iraq egypt and jorden supported by soviets
The congo civil war where rift started between prime minister supported by Soviets and president supported by Us dismissed prime minister of congo
The treaties summitts between two powers over nuclear arsenal salt i and ii
The fall of soviet union after gorbechov who annouced his two plans about politics and economy
The peaceful approach of russians towards UN in afghanistan matter and deployment of peace keeping troops in Iraq
To be cult.the post world war ii period is era of proxy wars which is called cold through direct and indirect confrontations

These are bullet points you can check in book i mentioned .there is rest of details....thanks
