Default Some important questions

I have came across some important questions while reading US history.
At first there were only federalists and non federalist at the time of independence.
Non federalist are also know as democrats. The question is who were republicans? And when did this division started? Can anyone clear my confusion?

What i conclude is that anti federalist=republican=republican-democrates
Whig party=angry party of anti federalist
Please correct me if i am wrong.

I believe the Whigs emerged in opposition to President Andrew Jackson.
