Thomas Jefferson described his election to the American Presidency in 1800 as “the Second American Revolution”. Was the claim justified? Support your answer with evidence.

Thomas Jefferson was termed “a bull in the china closet” by the Federalists when he became the President of the United States of America but his policies and performance negated this impression. Discuss

Thomas Jefferson described his election to the American Presidency in 1800 as “the Second American Revolution”. Was the claim justified? Support your answer with evidence.

Introduction

"My Presidency is the 2nd American Revolution"

The answer to the 1st question will discuss the difference between federalist and anti federalist to prove that Jefferson victory as the president was 2nd American revolution.

the Second American Revolution

1st common man to become US President
rejected Washington's Idea of no need of political parties in USA.

Justifying the Claim of 2nd American Revolutions

We simply have to write the achievement of Thomas Jefferson and the services he rendered to the conman man of USA.

  1. Rise of common man
  2. Laissez Fair Economy
  3. understandable budget for common man
  4. Immigration Policy
  5. Religious Tolerance
  6. Belief and importance to common man
  7. Autonomy to States (As of popular demand by US citizens)

Critical Analysis

Conclusion

"Thomas Jefferson was the best man ever to occupy American Presidency"
"John F. Kennedy"

Default criticism is welcomed on my introduction.

Thomas Jefferson described his election to the American Presidency in 1800 as “the Second American Revolution”. Was the claim justified? Support your answer with evidence. (2001)

Introduction

"My Presidency is the 2nd American Revolution"

The answer to the 1st question will discuss the difference between federalist and anti federalist to prove that Jefferson victory as the president was 2nd American revolution.

Thomas Jefferson presidency is described as the 2nd American Revolution. It can be justified in many ways. Before going into detail is better to understand how the victory of Thomas Jefferson is described as the 2nd revolution.

Prior to Thomas Jefferson Presidency:

George Washington was the first president of America. He did not belong to any political party as there was no political parties system at all. Moreover, he opposed the party system politics. A part from this, earlier federalist like Hamilton controlled congress and George Washington himself as he was reliant on Hamilton in many ways. Due to increased influence of federalist in government there polices were prevalent in American society. Federalists wanted a strong national government with a powerful president and courts. They supported policies that helped bankers and wealthy businessmen. They urged close economic and diplomatic ties with Britain. They did not like democracy, which they described as mob rule. They advocated powerful federal system and weak state. Anti-federalist like Thomas Jefferson held opposing thoughts which were as follows.

They supported the Constitution as a plan of government. But they did not think the Constitution gave the national government unlimited powers. They supported policies that helped the nation's farmers and small businessmen. They urged closer ties with the French people, who were rebelling against their king. And they demanded more rights, more democracy, for the people of the United States. Jefferson showed respect for farmers and wanted them greater role in politics. He favoured more rights for state and people and weak centre. He anchored equality and freedom for individuals. Jefferson's party included rich men and poor men joined together to fight what they saw as a misuse of power by Federalists in the national government. Eventually, he became the first common man to become the US president. Hence, the victory of Thomas Jefferson as the president of America is described as the 2nd American revolution as it brought changes in American politics.

Justifying the Claim of 2nd American Revolutions

We simply have to write the achievement of Thomas Jefferson and the services he rendered to the conman man of USA.

1. Rise of common man
2. Laissez Fair Economy: (min: govt interference in private economy)
3. Understandable budget for common man: (cut defence budget to 1.5 million in 1803 from 3million, reduce debt to 50%)
4. Immigration Policy: (reduce stay condition from 14 years to 5)
5. Religious Tolerance: (1777 bill at Virginia for religious freedom)
6. Belief and importance to common man: ( in ability of common man, right to govern govt)
7. Autonomy to States (As of popular demand by US citizens)
8. Promoted democracy through laws: (press freedom, liberated prisoners of federalist regime)
