Is America a melting pot or mosica?
how to answer this question
As i think first we have to write introduction like america is blend of different cultures different race etc thats why it is melting pot.And then we have to write the colonization of america including Planting colony of virginia plymouth and Massachusetts rhode island connecticut newyork and delaware after that the proprietory colonies including Maryland newjersy northand south carlonia Pennsylvania and georgia.
Is this the right way to answer?

Is the United States of America a mosaic of various cultures?

Your concept is quite up to the mark, you just need to focus on the ethnic blend of USA while describing the colonization campaign. Make sure you don't get diverted as it annoys the examiner when you get distracted from the main topic. So, my suggestion regarding this question would be a three point approach:

1) In the beginning give a thesis statement answering the aforementioned question in affirmative

2) Now you have to prove your thesis statement by writing about the advent of people belonging to different ethnic and religious backgrounds, and How they got amalgamated into the US culture?

3) Conclusion

I think the question is very well answer by nausherwan.

Absolutely yes! You have to come up with the thesis statement that America is none other than a melting pot as ov diff. identities from of Europe who had migrated in the New Land and they all have merged and melted as one Nation instead of their different identities.

following should be the Outline of Ur Ans.

Introduction

"America is a Melting pot rather than a mixing bowl"

How USA is a Melting Pot
-Different identities (spanish, french, dutch and englishmen)
-Heterogeneous society ov different races.
- Now wanted to be known as Americans instead ov their previous identities

Different Colonies and their Problems

Northern Colonies (New Hampshire, Maryland, Connecticut,Massachusetts & Rhodes island)
Middle Colonies (New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware)
Southern Colonies (Virginia, N & S Carolina and Georgia)

Critical Analysis

Conclusion

"America is the Nation of Nations"
"Barrack Obama"

@ Naveed!
while writing critical analysis what would've to prove America...melting pot or mosaic? I'm confused about it as both concepts carry strong logics for their credibility.

You have a choice to go either way. u can declare America even a mixing bowl/mosaic (b/c today it is difficult to believe that African Americans would ever melt into the large American ) but my suggestion would be to term it was melting pot. b/c the US States bureau result support this argument and majority of Latin people have forgot their previous identities and their new generation have emerged as Americans.

Here are your choices to answer the question

Is America As A Melting Pot or A Mixing Bowl/Mosaic

America As A Melting Pot

melting-pot model of American, prevalent at the beginning of the 20th century
immigrants were encouraged to completely discard the cultural heritage
It is particularly used to describe the assimilation of immigrants to the USA
the melting-together metaphor was in use by the 1780s.
Israll Zangwill, whose drama Melting Pot published in 1908 popularized the concept of white melting pot
After 1970 the desirability of assimilation and the melting pot model was challenged by proponents of multiculturalism
many different types of peoples, ideas and religions successfully co-exist
The history of America is a history of multiracial society
The white majority somehow interacted with blacks and Native Indians. Consisting of Anglo-Saxons, Irishmen, Germans, Jews, Italians, Poles and other Europeans this majority was not homogeneous.
All immigrants tried to learn American way of living and become a part of the “melting pot”
America As a Mixing Bowl/Mosaic

people of different backgrounds can fit together without losing their original identity
multiculturalism, celebrating diversity and teaching tolerance
African American civil rights movement should also be mentioned among the events that changed the ethnic situation in the USA
the ethnic distribution of population all over the USA resembles “a mosaic”: the South is black, the West is Asian, Hispanic and Native Indian
The report of the Council of Economic Advisers indicates that different ethnic groups choose not only different parts of the county to live in, but also different parts of the metropolitan areas
The separation between ethnic groups involves the distribution of jobs as well. For instance, in California, Mexicans work as gardeners, domestics, cooks and food preparers. Koreans open small business. Filipinos become nurses and medical technicians. African Americans work in government jobs.
have equal rights with other American citizens the prejudices against them are still strong
All scholars point out that there is a line between blacks and others and doubt that African Americans will ever be included in the “melting pot”.
blacks are resistant to exogamy too. Such marriages are regarded as the betrayal of one’s own race.
Conclusion
In conclusion it would be appropriate to state that the American society now is in the transition from a “mosaic” to a “melting pot”, creating a new culture, which will absorb and mix races and cultural peculiarities of different ethnic groups.

You should use the term Salad Bowl instead of mixing bowl as its Salad Bowl Theory.
