The following books are recommended for Islamic History

Islamic History & culture :

1. History of Islam By Mazhurl Haq
2. History of Saracens by Syed Ameer Ali
3. Plus used Google to get information about Turkey Sultanat-Usmania
4. History of the arabs by Phillip.K.Hitti
5. Study of islamic History by K.Ali

Kindly wait for seniors and qualifiers to answer the remaining parts of your query

Regards

Default Suggestion

There are many books available in market and all books are deep and lengthy.

If you want to became a expert and teacher of Islamic History you should read every book that available in Market.

If you want to get more than 140 marks in Islamic History you should read Jhangiri series Islamic History with MCQs and download short history from wikipedia.org.

The Holy Prophet History, Holy wars, Caliphs,Ummayyad, Abbassid, Osmania,Spain and Islamic Scholars like Ibn Khuldun etc from wikipedia.org
In this website every thing is mentioned in a very good style, easy language with charts, maps and pictures.

Within a 1 month you may preapare Islamic History by well and organized manner.

In 2009 examination some question came out of course, which helped me wikipedia.org website so i was able to write down all in brief with quotes.

If u have enough time you read gradually M.D Zafar Islamic history book( by lahore publisher) it is more than enough.

Dear PK Hitti book The Arab is very lengthy and it is reference book so if u want to get high score plz leave this book otherwise you get confused and foreget every thing and mixed up all events really it is my experience.

jhangiri book is easily available at every Urdu Bazar (karachi, lahore rawalpindi), and every year 70 percent paper comes from past 10 years and 70 percent Mcqs are same from past papers so my suggestion is to only read Jhagiri book and Wikipedia website. Further if you want to get extra knowledge you may read each and every thing from any where.

Dear Zona

Actually Islamic History is not my subject so I am unable to suggest you anything for sure regarding it. However as far as attempting a question is concerned, I think generally CSS is about understanding of the subject, the more you are familiar with the subject the better you would be able attempt the question even if it is deviated out of the strict limits of the course.

The books from Jehangir Book Depot. should be easily available from their own outlets if not from any other bookstore. You can see their website at the following link, it contains the addresses of their outlets in different cities.

Dear in every year at least 2 new questions come if u have idea do it or leave it. if u well go through and learn some questions from my mentioned book and use my mentioned website Inshallah you will be able to solve all questions it means 5 questions in a well manner. P.K Hitti book is good and include in CSS reference book list, Use it for reference and Ameer Ali book is also very good use it for reference.

Islamic History is lengthy subject it starts from before 571 AD to 1926 AD
sometime examiner ask babilonian civilization, so this question is possible to come on 2010 so prepare it from website and other reliable sources it is not include in Jhangiri series book.

You have enough time plz do study in deep and make notes. Inshallad u will pass CSS and you will be able to teach Islamic History if u have deep knowledge about subject.

Default Details ...

Adapt Islamic History and Culture if you are already familiar and interesed in this subject. (in other words if you r not goingto CSS however you are going to study this matter-- because it is our "muslim" history and our culture)

First take any Seeratul Nabi book (571-632)
to know and understand how our Prophet (saww) spent his life, what problems he faced. Behavoir of certain people with Prophet from beginng to end. How n Why (atleast) major events occur in a row.

Second take some Tareekhul Khulafa books (632-661)
to know and understand what happened after Prophet (saww) death.
Actually this is a milestone.
Sects begin to born from here.
Life of 4 Khulfa e Rashdoon
and why Shia dont accept the first 3 Khulafa ....
Moulana Maududi's Khilafat wa Malukiyat (Caliphs and Kings) is good book.

then comes Period of Ummayad Dynasty (661-750)
(Banu Ummaiya Family)
Big Names
Abu Sufyan, Caliphate Usman, Mawiya, Yazid ... Umer bin Abul Aziz
Ummiya Fimily ruled islam (or say ruledout islam) little less than 100 years

Then comes Period of Abbassid Dynasty (750-960)
(Banu Abbass)
Abbas = uncle of prophet (saww)
Big Names
Haroon Rashid, Mamun Rashid ...

in last comes Fatimid Dynasty ...
(The Fatimid Caliphate or al-Fātimiyyūn (Arabic الفاطميون) was an Arab Shi'a dynasty that ruled over varying areas of the Maghreb, Egypt, Sicily, Malta and the Levant from 5 January 909 to 1171. It was the fourth and final Arab caliphate-wikipedia words: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fatimid_Empire)
_______________

in final read Tareekh Tabari (full and all)
first ever written islamic tareekh
even ibne aseer, ibn kaseer, ibn khuldoon refer to this...
...
above all sketched when you really want to know and understand
the History and Islamic Culture
