First i would request you to make your question clear
The main cause of Muslim invasion in all the directions was the threat from the two hostile great powers i.e the Byzantine and the Persian.
Byzantine empire was in the north while Egypt was the gateway to north Africa. So conquest of north starts from the conquest of Egypt by Hadhrat Amar Binl Aas R.A . causes of the invasion were the following
1) Ambition of Aamr Binl Aas R.A
2) threat from byzantine (to nip it in the bud)
3) Invitations of the people of the north etc
after the fall of Egypt the Muslims gradually expanded their empire to the coast of red sea and then through a strait entered to the Spain.

North Africa includes Egypt so do the conquest of Egypt and the rest of North Africa (Central and Western) separately.

There are two kinds of questions related to NA in past papers. 1 Conquests and 2 Material prosperity. The former would include the conquests beginning in the reign of Hazrat Umar up to Abdul Malik, no mention of Fatimids is required. But the latter question will include the Fatimids, establishment of Qayrowan and the Murabitun of North Africa (plz check the Murabitun part because I dont have access to my books right now so can't say for sure).

Causes mentioned by sfmascot are absolutely spot on, though, specific to Egypt include a)"Umar's policy of systematic conquest and b) the Plague of Amwas" in them.

Causes for NA include:
Muawiya's Expansionist policy.
Amr's ambition
Solidifying hold on acquired territory
Byzantine's reduced naval supremacy.

@aloshye

my question is consulted with these questions in past papers....

describes the causes and consequences of early muslim conquest of egypt and north africa?

and also if the question not include the word of "early" then what comes out??

now what i understand from ur reply is that the qust strt from hazrat umer r.a'reign and not include the fatmids........ right???

why egypt or north africa do saperately although egypt include in africa???

regards

Don't get confused no history teacher would set a question that would include conquests of NA up to the Fatimids, because that would include the Aghlabids, Tulunids and the Ikshidids, that's an immense amount of material, you would be constantly running around from Egypt to Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco and every other area of NA while answering the question, and you won't have time to answer any other question. So keep it simple Do the Conquests up to Abdul Malik's time and do Fatimids in Egypt for the prosperity.

I meant Egypt and NA separately in your notes, as in make separate headings, as in Conquest of Egypt one main heading and conquest of the rest of NA second main heading because history books tend to specify Egypt but lump the rest of NA parts like Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco together.

I hope it's clear now
