I also got quite low score in IHC. I expected to get a high score in it during CE-2014. However, I will still opt this subject because I am good at it.

It will be an overall low scoring year .. No doubt most of the aspirants have scored a lot less in Islamic History but some of them have also crossed the 140 mark .. Which means there must be an error in technique of those with low marks .. I have asked some students with low scores to send me their outlines of the attempted questions .. Once received, I'll discuss here the method that should have been adopted in papers .. The exam questions looked simple but were tricky and also asked for something different than the normal perception of aspirants ..

Regards ..

Post Can we cite a research paper?

Assalamulaikum dear fellows,

Can we cite a research paper while answering the question??
And is it necessary to write the cited work in the standard form?

for example: Her distinctive writing style adds to her mystique (“Plath” 19).
This is an example of in-text citation style, where Plath is the title and 19 is the page number.

Waalaikum Salam,

Yes, you can cite a research paper while answering the question .. Standard form citation is not necessary .. You can simple cite the name of the writer and his/work along with the narration .. For example: M.M Sharif in 'The history of Muslim philosophy' says that ....

Default what is intellectual development?

Dear All,

Please tell me what is intellectual development?

Give a critical study of the intellectual development of the Saracens in Baghdad? (2012)

What examiner is asking in this question? what sort of development? i mean which area? for example, if scientific development was asked, we could have written development in astronomy, biology , medicine etc, but what to write in intellectual development?

Stunner bhai, you are especially requested to answer.

A simple question on different fields the Muslims from Baghdad excelled in .. It would include medicine, astronomy, architecture and all other scientific fields .. Furthermore, do not forget to mention the poetry, calligraphy, philosophy etc .. So, it would include anything relating to knowledge, literacy and sciences etc ..

Mention of renowned scientists and philosophers is a must along with examples .. And do not forget that the question asks for 'development' .. Which means it was a continued process and you'd need to show the evolution of that process and enhancement in those people's intellectual abilities .. The methods which made them excel and standout .. In short, explain the times they started from to the times they perfected their fields .. Then in the critical analysis you must mention any shortcomings in that process .. Was it for the real development of Muslim society or was it simply a response to the Ommayyad Advancement in Spain / Europe .. ?

Feel free to ask anything further ..

Regards ..

@Stunner

Thanks a lot for such a detailed answer.

I want to ask another question.

“MUTAWAKKIL, the NERO of the ARAB was responsible of the decline of the Empire”.Comment. (2012)

Is the MUTAWAKKIL in above question is that 10th Caliph of the Abbasid Caliphate (847–861)? if yes, than dont you think that this question is illogical, as in book, there are hardly 2 pages on MUTAWAKKIL. How one will write answer of 20 marks. And i think that MUTAWAKKIL is also not popular or even worth to read ?

Please comment. Thanks in anticipation.

Yes, he's the same Abbassid Caliph .. However, the question is not illogical at all .. The examiner is at liberty to ask any question from the syllabus .. And there are some worth-reading texts on this topic in some mentioned books by the FPSC ..

The problem is that most of those books are not accessed by aspirants .. They tend to get hold of the guide-like books and then find themselves short of material in the exams ..

Furthermore, if you find any question which is on not much a popular area of study or you don't have much material on, then skip that .. You always have room to skip a couple of such questions and answer the ones you have total command on ..

Regards ..
