Anyone has any idea about the general trend here? I have seen some skepticism about the subject in the recent years and will be grateful if anyone has any input.

The general trend is positive one, as some candidates scored 160 plus in CSS-2012 as well as CSS-2011. ( Stunner-a senior member of this forum scored 166)
But it depends on the preparation and your approach to answer the questions.
To the point answers can fetch you high marks.
