I Subscribed to the forum for acquiring a reasonable guidance for solution to the jumbles i often encounter.
i was going to attempt pre interview written test for the recruitment of eng lecturers in edu and litracy dpt govt. i thought i could better do it with some one standing by me. i therefore sought your help MADAM Jee !!! but you displayed an eccentric mood towards my posts. thus i ceased to ask you again. anyways !!!! be helping others and go far beyond 30000000000000000000000000000 posts and threads take care |

I had the answer that day but I didn't post. Here it goes.
This might annoy you but i am really disappointed. May I ask what you are going to teach your students when your own concepts are not clear? Without any hard work, passing it otherwise means you just did it by cramming the notes; you haven't gone through the text thoroughly. You know nothing about the history, eras and movements of literature and their influence on it so its almost impossible to teach drama and novel. IF you have no knowledge of poetic styles, terminologies, genres, you cant explain the deeper meaning of a single poem with all its symbols and imageries. Do you know how harmful this incompetency could be for literature students?

i am not as much familiar with eng literature as you might be.
perhaps this was the reason i looked for an effective hint that i could start my study with. at the outset of my insight into the deepest layers of eng literature as you cited above, i felt a grave need of a proper direction. because literature sounded cumbersome to my mental ports at the time when i was preparing for the ce 2011 either. i m just asking you for giving me a hint to cover the main features of literature as em already running short of my time. refer me such a reading . a buk or stuff like that once i qualify the exam i would pitch a direct battle against my weakness in my subject you wont be asked to bale me out of it. i would serve the students a good treat thereafter. Inshallah. you need not wory dear. tnx |

To start with, you first have to go through Short History of English Literature by Ifor Evans. If you want to read the history thoroughly, buy "History of English Literature" by T. Singh. Get "A Manual of Practical Criticism and Literary Terms" by Prof. Mumtaz Ahmed and Prof. Khalid Mumtaz.

Then go for the book by T. Singh. I have no idea about the book by Hudson.
I dont know any book for MCQs in general but there is one for CSS by Jahangir Exam Cram Series.

hudson
hudson offers analytical approach
unlike other authors he marks the ages by the then legendary figures in literature not by the people holding political positions. talks about the causes and changes that promoted the literature to enter a new taste and turn. lead us the way to analytically peep inside the inherent features of literary work by the era marker legends and makes it quite easy for us to understand how the precedents evolved in to new production. how the classical work paved ways to new thinking and modern patters in the literature. any ways ! thax i m gona try st sing as well. to reach parallel lines with you i am ready to suck eng literature. the day is to soon dawn when you would find it pleasant discussing with me the literary stuff and might possible u seek my suggestions either. Inshallah. Take a gud care of yourself dear ! |
