i wish if just a word of satisfaction could do.. the primary requirement for gettin thru literature is the aesthetic sense and an inclination towards it.. but somehow u hav got in, u hav to read wisely and extensively to develop the skill of personal interpretation and analysis.. first write down ur analysis, then analyze it by urself.. and after two or three times of revision, reconsideration and rewriting, ur words will defntly b better than the first draft.. try it and see it urself.. and for further help there are all volunteers here.. hope u would do well.. regards..

my dear, first thing that u shudnt hav opted english literature for improvin ur english.. secndly i hav almost completed my masters in eng lit.. but i never wrote an answer more than 2 pages for 10 marks.. n i hav got good marks for it.. i hav been re-iterating that the length doesnt matter my dear, the content matters.. while preparin for eng lit or any other lit, read as widely and variety of authors as possible.. extract their essence and add ur own flavour to it.. u neednt to elongate anything or it would result exaggeration on ur part and boredom n exasperation on the part of the examiner.. wish u gd lck.. regards

Salam,

The latest edition of the book history of English Literature (B. R. Mullick) is not revised by an Indian, Its edited, revised and enlarged by Sohail Raza Siddiqui a professor currently teaching in Faisalabad. Proud Pakistani. Read between the lines.

It is good that u r proud of Pakistan.. but I would have felt proud if instead of editing, revising or enlarging, a Pakistani had written a book on the history of English Literature so compact and lucid..

Doing literature requires a wide n critical study.. allocation of time depends upon a person's analytical power, the ability to understand and absorb the material he or she studies and the topic under study.. anyhow, an average of eight to ten hours will do the job.. as far as I am concerned, I used to give less time, app. 4 to 6 hours..

I shall suggest that you concentrate on how you'll write rather than cramming others' material. It's more beneficial and scoring, too, that you learn how to write.
As for the publications, then everyone is as informative and didactic as the other - no confinement to any of the publications.

Latest editions of NKM are not worthy enough as compare to their old ones. My professor suggested that material from internet especially from Wikipedia is more than enough to get good marks. Always prepare your own notes, do consult prepared notes but don’t rely on them.
