I gave have examples other then her. And I quoted the case of one of those other then her. PMS wasn't that much tough. Had it been I would not have qualified. However , that is my point o view. Anyone can differ. So let's agree to disagree. Best of Luck.

It's not Na shukri. And I had gone for PMS without even least preparation and my optionals were also different then those of my CSS ones. And i had not given except for the the days of exam any time to pms optionals. I didn't know anything about social work. It was all blessing of Allah alone. And I always admit that it is all Allah's blessing.

Opting for English Literature as an optional for CSS is always a tricky decision. Agreeing with Tassawur, a lot many people who had strong English literature background didnot opt for it in the CSS. The trend of low/high scoring has badly influenced selection of this subject.
Agreeing with mangat1, there are still some hardcore admirers of English Literature, who negating all the facts and figures and common perception, dare to opt it. I have been one of such. In my view, English literature is a subject worthy to be selected only if the person has thorough knowledge of not only the prescribed literature but also the overall subject. In contrast to the true spirit of English Literature, most of the objectives (that hold 40 marks) are about remebering dates, which for a student of literature is a tough work to do. I have been in contact with a number of CSS aspirants who have, just like me, despite all risks, decided to opt English Literature in CSS 2013 and 2014. I encourage them. For interest of those aspirants who are interested in English Literature, my score in CE 2010 (without any preparation) was 118 and in CE 2011 (with least preparation) was 128. At the end of the day, the decision rests upon you. Keep in mind all the risks and precedents, your own aptitude and understanding for this subject, before making a decision. All the very best. Regards

Excellent reply courageneverdies.
My answer is for those who are thinking of opting Literature for the 2014 session. I am an avid admirer of Literature and despite the somewhat shocking and disappointing replies regarding low scoring of the subject, I still aim to opt for it in 2014 and give it my best shot. Might I also add, that with so few a months left for preparation for the 2014 exams, why not chose a subject that one already has a grasp on. I am sure anyone who took Literature in O/A Levels, Bachelors and Masters (in English) has had profusely read the works of authors mentioned in the CSS syllabus. So why opt for, say Psychology that is a "high scoring subject", when one doesn't have the basic knowledge for it. Just my opinion. |
