@Doctor Sadia, I believe you will have to cover syllabus partially from Internet and partially from books. Topics such as: Sustainable Development Issues, Environmental Pollution, Climate Change and Environmental Assessment and Management(partially), can be covered from any good environmental science book/s. For remaining portions of syllabus, like: Environmental Governance, Global initiatives, Environmental Assessment and Management(partially), and Interdisciplinary nature of Environmental Science, at least right now Internet seems to be the best option. Also, FPSC has also listed websites of Pakistan Environmental agency and UN environment program as suggested readings, compounding the importance of Web resources even more in my mind. Moreover, since this is the first time the exam of this optional will be held, so no past papers or authentic guidance is still available. Extensive cooperation with other aspirants and thorough preparation of syllabus is the key I think for success. |

This book is based on css pattern.

sorry guys you have yours own opinion, but i found Dr farooq's book very poorly written, i guess Dr sahab has not written something from his own knowledge and experience, instead he collect the material is haste from random sources and just compiled, and directly published it, with thousands of grammatical mistakes and also lagging information at various points. somewhere repetition of sentences, somewhere un-necessary and sudden changing of paragraphs.. |

yes sadia you right, but i think time is limited and we have to manage, so,instead of searching in number of books, its better to just get concept from this book so that a level is built, then further scrutinize on net, as CSS is not not a game of cramming prepared book, pattern is going to be more and more analytical, concept can be manage by good writing skills. |

Hmm but i still believe this is better available material as compared to others Sent from my HTC_0P6B using Tapatalk |
Anyone come across "Environmental Science: Earth as a living Planet by Botkin and Keller" and Environmental geology by Montogomery? Both are recommended books and cover many aspects of syllabus. Kindly share your views.

I am bit confused about section 6 and 7 in the outline. Can anyone share some source or material for this?

I have decided not to buy any book on Environmental sciences. There is alot of information already available on internet and I think notes can be easily made from internet sources.

I want to bring to your knowledge regarding a book published recently on Environmental Science made exclusively for the newly added subject of Environmental Science in CSS. The book covers all the course / syllabus in a very comprehensive way. It also includes sections on "Expected Questions" and MCQs. Besides, the book comes with a DVD of all the topics to further enhance the knowledge of aspirants.
. The book is named "Environmental Science", the author is Mr Imran Bashir, PMS Officer. He also teaches the same subject along with Geography at KIPS. The book has been published by Jahangir Book Depot and is available at all leading book stores. |
I have just consulted Environmental Science written by Imran Bashir. It is most relevant, concise and best book in my opinion. I believe it is published by Jehangir books.

the book my George Stanley is the best, i only have the hardbound though
